“You?” he asks, as if discussing his penis with a stranger is a normal occurrence for him. Maybe it is. I’m definitely getting strong I don’t give a fuck vibes from this guy. He doesn’t seem the type to embarrass easily or to care what anyone thinks of him.

“I’m on a date.”

He makes a show of looking around at the empty seats surrounding us. “And…what happened to your date?”

“He’s busy drooling over the team.”

His attention is back on me. I can feel the intensity searing through the sunglasses he’s wearing, making me want to squirm.

“You don’t like soccer.”

Two minutes, and he’s surmised what Noah couldn’t comprehend after hours of my company.

“Football. And, no, I don’t.”

“Why?” It comes out more as a demand than a question.

I shrug. “Overexposure, I guess.”

For some reason, my answer amuses him.

“Interesting.”

“Are you a big fan?”

“Depends on the day.”

I feel my brow wrinkle, not sure what to make of that response. “Are you in Kluvberg for long?”

“Not sure yet.”

“Not very committal, are you?”

He makes a sound of amusement in the back of his throat, but doesn’t gift me with another full smile. “You got a pen?”

“Uh, yeah.”

He holds out a hand. I dig through my bag until I find a ballpoint and pass it to him. He scribbles something on his ticket and then hands it to me, along with my pen.

I squint at what he wrote, the digits only making sense when I remember he’s American. Scoff. “Your phone number? I’m here on a date.”

“Seems like you’re up here, avoiding your date. Besides, I’m not hitting on you.”

His smirk is infuriating. Like he knows exactly how bored I was until he showed up and totally captured my attention. I’m tempted to rip his ticket to shreds, just to wipe that smug expression off his face.

But I don’t. I keep staring at it.

“You’re not?” My voice is thick with skepticism. Self-centered as it sounds, that’s what usually happens.

“Nope.” He pops the P obnoxiously.

“So, you’re giving me your number because…”

He shrugs. “We’ll see what happens.”

“You think I’m going to use it?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never done this before.”
