‘Unless you want me to blab about what I saw this morning, drop it,’ I growled at James, and he only laughed at the blush heating my face.

“What time are you guys leaving?” he asked before I could say anything more.

“In about twenty minutes,” Cory answered.

We chatted for about ten minutes before we went downstairs with our bags. Kassie, Adrien and Elias were already in the foyer waiting for us.

“Here are the potions to help you mind-link. Remember, these only last about twelve hours, so don’t drink it until later on today.” Aunt Kassie passed Cory a small bag of potions. “There’s three in there for each of you in case you’re detained and need to spend another night.”

Chapter Twenty

Cory

I opened one eye and looked to my left, where Evie was talking animatedly with Adrien about some sort of program Evergreen was teaching him. I was trying to take a nap on the hour-and-a-half flight to Vegas, but my mate’s voice was like a siren. It brought my cock to life, and the passionate way she spoke about her job made my heart swell with pride. As I watched her, Elias came over to sit across from me when I gave up on my nap and sat up.

“Do you understand anything they’re saying?” he asked with nothing but humor in his voice.

“I can understand some of the pronouns,” I joked.

“It’s like they’re speaking their own language. It’s cute seeing him so excited about it,” he said, looking at his mate with adoration in his eyes. I couldn’t help but concur. I always loved watching Evie dive into her work.

“What should us simpletons talk about?” I asked, making him laugh. We spent the rest of the flight going over a few of the more dangerous scenarios we might get ourselves into, but otherwise, we mostly watched our mates dork out to their heart’s content.

“How’s Sam?” I asked. She was their oldest, about a year older than me, and she had moved away with her mate a few years ago.

“She’s pregnant with her third,” he said, lighting up at the mention. “Tori’s out helping her right now while she’s on school break, and when the little one is born, Adrien and I might go stay there for a few months to help out. I think she and her mate are both coming around to the idea of coming back to live at Guardian Moon. Her mate’s family hasn’t been all that helpful, and Sam wants to go back to school and finish her law degree.”

“What’s stopping them?” I asked.

“The current alpha has no gamma, and he’s being considered for the position,” he sighed, and I nodded, understanding why the decision was tough to make.

“When will he know?”

“No clue. Hopefully, before they have to move back home with a newborn.”

“Have you guys considered adopting another?” I asked. Elias and Adrien were essentially immortal, being a vampire and a warrior to Uncle Helios.

“We talked about it. Maybe in a few years. We want to make sure Tori has her own family started first,” he answered, smiling fondly at his mate again before he turned to look at me. “Have you guys talked about kids yet?”

“We did. We’re hoping for some soon.” It was my turn to smile.

“If Miguel and Xochil ever go looking for their mates, your kids can all have the same dynamic as you did,” he said, and I chuckled.

It was a tall ask for the Guardian Moon heirs right now. The only ones of the older groups who were perfectly content with things as they were was Uncle Seb and Theo. Jazmine had two kids, and Jacob had one. I knew Uncle Helios wanted grandkids, and Uncle Lalo would be over the moon for more, too, but Xochil wanted to experience more of the world, while Miguel was focused on learning every type of martial art and fighting style there was. He said he wouldn’t look for his mate until he was able to beat his mom, Aunt Kassie, in a fight.

Good luck with that. Even Dad and Uncle Helios still struggled to get the upper hand. I only beat her once, and I was pretty sure she was distracted by some dirty mind-link from Uncle Lalo, because she ran off giggling rather quickly after that. I never beat her again. Aunt Kassie was the reason why our ranked wolves and warriors were as good as we were. She was a beast of a fighter, even after twenty-plus years of retiring as a vampire assassin. The threat of her getting involved kept the vampire councils in line even to this day.

We got to Vegas and settled into our rooms under the aliases Zi provided for us. I was now Alexander, Evie was Ava, Adrien was Connor and Elias was Arthur.

We had the afternoon off, but tonight we needed to get the attention of the casino in order to get an invitation into a high roller’s game at the place Tezcatlipoca’s people managed. Once we were in, we would gamble the night away until Elias and Evie could excuse themselves, go find their main office and hack it.

The room was on the same floor as the owner’s offices and past the bulk of security. We were hoping to get the invitation this evening and execute everything tomorrow. With a little luck, we would be done early enough in the night for me to show Evie the surprise I booked for her. I hoped she went for it anyway.

Once we settled in, I was hoping for some time alone with my mate before tonight, but Adrien knocked on the door as I was starting to kiss down her neck and stole her right from under me with some sort of excuse about shopping for tonight, leaving Elias and me with instructions to start getting the lay of the land by gambling at the casino. I was left standing in my suite with an raging erection, watching that wonderful ass bouncing as she was dragged away from me.

I looked over at Elias, who was looking at a retreating Adrien with longing, and I felt a little bit better knowing I wasn’t the only one cockblocked today.

“Well, I guess I’ll change, and we can go case the damn place.” I sighed, making Elias laugh as I shuffled over to my room to change with a pout.
