I withdrew from her and removed the cuffs, then walked over to the bathroom. I removed the remnants of wax off my body as best as I could, then I wet a washcloth with warm water and walked back into our room. Evie was snoring softly in the middle of the broken bed, and I felt like puffing my chest out for being able to satisfy my mate into sleep. I cleaned her up as gently as I could, then threw the washcloth in the hamper and crawled back into bed. When she felt my body heat, my little Pokémon scooched over and cuddled up to me, making a warmth I could only ever feel with her spread over my chest.

“I’m sorry we didn’t get to use more of the stuff you got for us,” I told her as I settled her closer to me.

“We have our whole lives to play,” she reminded me, and I couldn’t help putting a hand over her growing womb. We had a whole life to play with all of her toys and play out her biggest fantasies.

“Never doubt how much I love you again, Studmuffin,” she murmured, half asleep.

“Never. You are mine, and I am yours,” I agreed, kissing her forehead.

“Mhmm,” she mumbled. “And I’m not telling the staff we broke the bed.”

I chuckled and held her tighter, until her breath evened out. I could take a little ribbing from the staff after the night we had. It was a good opportunity to get a stronger frame for our activities anyway. Or I needed to invest in a furniture store. I also needed to go back on that website and order more toys. There were so many things I still had left to explore with my mate. Hanging on to that thought, I finally allowed myself to go sleep.

Chapter Thirty Nine

Evie

It was soon Christmas time, and we were all waiting in the hospital while Aunt Kassie was in labor. Mom and Aunt Nat were in there with her, and though they promised to be in there with us too, I was still very nervous hearing her screams.

‘Evie, take a deep breath. It’s not you that’s in there, and our pups are going to get stressed.’ Cory pulled me onto his lap, despite how big I was now. I tried to wiggle off, feeling uncomfortable at how much weight I was putting on him, but he wouldn’t let me. ‘Sit still, Little Pokémon. All of your wiggling is turning me on, and everyone will figure it out soon if you don’t stop.’ I stopped moving instantly at his words and blushed.

‘That’s not appropriate,’ I mumbled back, then stiffened again when I heard Aunt Kassie screaming. ‘I thought Aunt Nat was helping. Why is Aunt Kassie in so much pain?’

‘Giving birth isn’t something that’s healable, love. She’s there in case something goes wrong,’ he answered, sympathy on his face as he rested his forehead on mine.

The cry of a baby filled the air, and everyone around us cheered. We waited impatiently until Uncle Lalo stepped out of the room with a blue bundle in his arms.

“Everyone, I’d like you to meet Lorenzo Guerrero.”

The baby was so adorable, and the smile and happiness on Aunt Kassie made me realize the pain would be worth it. Mom kicked everyone out after a little while, but not before I made her promise she would give me an epidural, making Aunt Kassie laugh.

We celebrated Christmas a little late, but with the new addition to the family. Cory and I lived in quiet bliss as we waited for the arrival of our little ones.

Before we knew it, it was New Year’s Eve, and the pack was getting ready to start the celebrations. Cory bought some fireworks, so the majority of the pack was showing up for dinner, dancing and the show.

It was late afternoon, and I was getting ready in the bathroom to go down to the party when I felt a gush between my thighs. My heart sped up, but I managed to maintain my composure. I removed my clothes and walked out to the closet, feeling Cory’s heated eyes on me as I went. I pulled on an old nightgown and walked back out, turning Cory’s hungry look to confusion.

“What’s going on? I thought we were headed down to the party?”

“Change of plans. My water broke. The pups are early,” I told him, almost laughing at the panicked look on his face. I wasn’t due for another ten days, but it shouldn’t be that big of a surprise.

‘Mom, I need you. My water just broke,’ I mind-linked Mom as I approached my catatonic mate.

‘I’ll meet you in the hospital, sweetie, and I’ll call Nat,’ she answered back immediately.

‘Thank you.’

“Breathe, Cory. We need the bag, and then we’re going to head to the hospital. Mind-link Jo and your parents. We need someone to oversee the celebration tonight.”

“Uhh...” he answered.

“Breathe...” I repeated. It took him a minute, but Cory stood up so suddenly I almost fell backward. He caught me, apologizing, and then he sprang into action.

“Right, get the Jo and mind-link the bag and then we’ll go have a couple of pups,” he said, running toward the old office, now turned into a nursery. I didn’t even correct him, I simply sat down and waited for him to return. Cory skidded to a stop before me, his feet sliding a little too far, hitting the night table and cursing. I giggled, covering my mouth to muffle the sounds, but he still caught it.

“Why are you sitting down? We should be going!” he exclaimed so loudly I might mistake it for an angry accusation. He bent and massaged his abused toe for a moment before he looked at me again when I didn’t answer.

I shook my head at his antics and stood up, walking toward the elevator with our hands entwined. I got a contraction on the way down and laughed at the way Cory panicked, lifting me up and trying to run with me.
