Brent spins the bottle. It lands on Sophie. She’s still laughing at Leah, but she stops abruptly when it points toward her.

There is a brief moment of hesitation before she chooses. “Truth.”

Brent clears his throat. “Ok, hmmmm…who do you think is the sexiest person in this room?”

Sophie glances around the group, quickly skipping over my gaze until her eyes land on Leah and her ridiculous tongue. Her lips pull into a grin. “Leah. Definitely Leah.”

The room erupts. Sophie seems pleased with herself.

“I’d pay to see that...” Nick winks at the two of them and raises his beer into the air with an uncoordinated arm, letting some of the liquid slosh onto the ground. Once again, he can’t hold his own with a drink in his hand.

Lightweight.

“See what?” Maureen asks.

Nick waves his hand in the direction of Sophie and Leah. “The two of them.”

“Ew,” Maureen scrunches her face.

Ignoring both of them, Sophie leans forward to spin the bottle. It lands on me.

“Dare,” I bravely decide, narrowing my eyes playfully and wondering what she might have up her sleeve.

She returns my own narrowed glare and nods. “Ok, I’ll be right back.” She leaves the room.

We all look at each other and wait patiently, anxious to see what she’ll come up with.

“Can I stop making this face now?” Leah whines.

“Yes, you can stop,” Brent confirms.

She lets out an exhausted breath and massages her cheeks.

Sophie reemerges holding something behind her back. She comes to stand in front of me with a smirk.

“Your hat for the rest of the game, sir.” She reveals a makeshift hat made from toilet paper. She places it atop my head with a smug smile.

“Oh, that’s a good look, Kai,” Brent confirms.

“Thank you,” I reply, puffing out my chest and nudging the ‘hat’ so that it sits crooked on my head.

Sophie laughs and takes her place again. She’s gone easy on me. I was prepared for much worse.

I spin the bottle. It lands on Brent.

“Dare,” he says.

I look around the room and spot a pile of hot sauce packets in one of the empty food containers. I toss five of them his way. “Down ‘em all.”

“Not a problem.” He tears them open, one by one, and squeezes them into his mouth with ease. He tries, but he can’t help but squint his eyes shut for a few seconds as they go down. “Whewww…that was refreshing.” He shakes his head back and forth and leans in to spin the bottle again. It lands on Nick.

“I’ll go with…truth.” He’s sloping crookedly against his seat and dangling his beer from his fingers. I think we’ve all lost count of how many he’s had.

“If you could be invisible for a day, what’s the first thing you would do?” Brent asks.

Nick’s expression immediately turns devious. “I mean… The ladies locker room would definitely be near the top of my list.”

“Ew, Nick…” Maureen groans.
