“Hey, it’s the truth.” He laughs as he spins the bottle and sinks back into the sofa contentedly.

It lands on me again.

I take a deep breath and weigh my options once more. I might as well try something different this time. “Truth.”

“Ok, um…” He ponders. “When’s the last time you kissed someone?”

I glance at Sophie. She’s already staring at me.

“Oh, and Sophie doesn’t count,” Nick adds quickly.

I nod, letting a smirk form on my lips. “Oh ok, Sophie doesn’t count? Well then, hmmmm…” I catch her eye again. She’s watching me with a humorously imposing death glare. I scratch my forehead under my ridiculous toilet paper hat, pretending to contemplate further. “I think it would have been six months ago then.” I remember a woman I met on a late night out, just two months before I met Sophie for the first time. I haven’t kissed anyone else since that night.

“Dudeee…six months?” Nick’s eyes widen. “I don’t know how you do it, man. You must be in literal physical pain.” He laughs and closes his eyes as he takes another drink.

I look at Sophie. She’s watching me with interest. Now she knows I haven’t kissed anyone since I kissed her. I doubt she expected that. I drop my eyes from hers quickly and spin the bottle again. It lands on Maureen.

She sits up straighter. “Truth.”

“Ok, umm…who’s your celebrity crush?” I ask. It's probably a question she's eager to answer, and for some reason, I don't care to ask her anything deeper.

She brings her hand to her heart. “Oh my God, Bradley Cooper. Always Bradley Cooper.”

Leah and Sophie nod enthusiastically.

“Have you met him?” Sophie asks.

Maureen sighs. “No, but I’m gonna track him down and show him what he’s missing.” She spins the bottle again. It lands on Leah.

“Ummm…truth,” Leah says.

Maureen watches her mischievously for a moment. “What’s your number?”

Leah raises an eyebrow. “Phone?”

Maureen smirks. “No…your body count”.

“Oooooohhhhh…” Nick cheers in an unnecessarily high pitch.

Leah sighs and rubs her brow. “Really guys?”

“Rules are rules,” Nick reminds her.

“Ughh…” She closes her eyes, counting in her head. “Nine.”

“Get it, Leah.” Maureen claps in approval.

“I hate you all.” Leah hangs her head.

I glance at Sophie. She’s beginning to look uncomfortable again. She takes another swig of her beer.

Nick sits up and laughs. “Oh, that’s not that much, Leah. Who’s got her beat? I think we should all answer that one.”

“I think we should not. Leah, spin the bottle.” Sophie points at the ground.

I study her for a moment. Her knuckles are white as she grasps her Guinness tightly. I’m understanding now. It’s the sexual questions that are making her nervous.

Leah spins the bottle and it lands on Nick.
