“I am feeling well. Please excuse me.” She waited until he nodded before turning to Eltrinia. “Cousin, I have chosen my name.”

Eltrinia got to her feet, her dark eyes swirling. “Really? Please tell me.”

She stood and straightened her shoulders. “My name is Kana Pyrar Lem.”

Eltrinia smiled and gave her a hug. “Welcome to the world, Kana.”

Kana smiled and returned the hug. “Now, I just want to find out what I can do.”

Inoth frowned. “Don’t you know?”

Eltrinia smiled. “She does; she just doesn’t know how to get at it. Right?”

Kana nodded. “That is it. I also know that it isn’t something I should do indoors.”

“I will try and make time for experimenting outside.”

Kana shook her head. “You have work to do, and even I can tell you are enjoying having Inoth over. I can wait. I will go read this book on the elements to Two and Three.” She inclined her head and walked over to the converted barn that was now the lab. They would enjoy hearing about what the recognized elements were.

She pulled up the chair that Eltrinia used to use for this very purpose and started reading. She glanced at Three and could swear that she was nodding her head in time with the words.

Kana did not have an indoor talent. She finished stamping out the fire on the day that the squirrel stole her hair clip.

One moment, she had been cursing out the squirrel and chasing it, pointing at it. The next moment, fire had shot out of her fingertip and missed the squirrel by an inch. It did not miss the small tree or the patch of grass next to said tree.

Eltrinia appeared next to her and looked down. “Hmm. Well, it seems you need further instruction regarding control.”

Kana’s guardian sighed. “But I am not the person to control this kind of volatile power. I do, however, know of a woman who has those skills. Would you be willing to meet with her?”

Kana nodded. “It feels very close to the surface.”

“If she needs you to go to her, are you willing to spend some time learning?” Eltrinia asked it carefully.

“I would have to leave you and my sisters?”

“Just for a while, and it wouldn’t hurt you to make some friends. Your sisters are fine; I will watch them; the bot will watch them. If one of them starts thrashing around, I will come get you.”

Kana blinked and smiled. “Ah. Right. I forgot you can do that.”

Eltrinia inclined her head. “It is the bonus to the mix I was made from.”

“Do you know who contributed your components?”

Eltrinia chuckled and shook her head. “No. The tank I was in was thoroughly destroyed.”

“Ah. I am sorry. Do we know what made the rest of us?”

Eltrinia took Kana’s hand and shook her head. “No. They recorded sample information but no identities. The estimate is that we are made up of three different persons with very different skill sets. Weak dragons, for the most part, combined to make something spectacular.”

“We are spectacular?” Kana smiled and knew her eyes were sparkling.

“We definitely are. Come with me. We are going to make a call.”

Kana smiled. “Just one?”

“When you know who to call, one is all you need.” Eltrinia chuckled. “Here we are safe, but once out in the world, you are going to need a support system. Well, until you gain a grip on your skills, you are also going to need a defense system. The idiots from the valley keep popping up, and they haven’t stopped looking for you three.”

“How is it that they haven’t found us?”
