Koa frowned. “That means you were not at the most recent dragon ball.”

“No. I suppose I will be up on the next one. I have already been told I am rare, but I am not a gemstone dragon.” She shrugged. “I also haven’t shifted yet, but I have been chatting with my dragon. I am pretty sure she didn’t want to come out in the cold.”

Koa laughed, and the other guys smiled again.

She stood and pressed her hand against the glass of the window.

Koa got up and stood behind her. “You are not afraid of heights?”

“I have a dragon behind my eyes. Of course not. Well, if we crash, I am in trouble.”

“Why?”

“I can’t swim, and from the texts and maps I studied, water is a fairly hard-to-miss thing where you are from.”

Koa touched her arm and frowned. “You can’t swim?”

“No. It really hasn’t come up. Snow has a lot of air in it, and ice gets out of my way.”

He nodded. “Well, that will be on the list of things that are necessary before we take you to the volcanoes. That and clothing that suits our environment.”

“Is it transform capable?”

“It can be.”

“Can it be black?”

“Unlikely, but I will ask.” He smiled.

“If it isn’t when I start, it will be when I finish.” She huffed.

Koa chuckled, and it was a surprisingly nice sound.

She watched the waves below and started to pinpoint warm-blooded creatures under the surface. “Oh, wow. It’s really alive.”

“It is. Every drop contains life of one kind or another.”

Kana smiled. “Yes, the further I search, the more I see.”

Koa nodded. “It is never the same water twice.”

“That is a pleasant thought.”

“It is. Would you like something to eat?”

“Please.”

He escorted her into the dining area, and she was served a huge plate of food.

“Apologies for the portions. They are geared toward us.”

Kana chuckled. “It isn’t a problem. I am still adapting and growing, so as I stated, my food intake is enormous.”

The grilled fish was lying on rice with sautéed vegetables lying on the plate. Kana watched how the others were eating, and when she was sure of what to eat and how, she picked up the sticks and went to work.

The food was well-seasoned and hot. She missed the scent of open fire that Kabyl cooked with.

When the plate was empty, someone came and took it from her. He paused. “Did you enjoy it, miss?”
