“So, I don’t mean to sound risqué, but I would like to show you my dragon.”
She paused in her eating. “That really doesn’t sound right.”
Koa grinned. “I know. There was no other way to say it.”
“Sure. Let’s see him. Are you sure you are up for it after being sedated?”
“Yes. We will take it slow.”
She laughed. “It still seems bad.”
He nodded. “I know. Keep eating.”
She didn’t need to be told twice.
When she was done, she sat back and looked around the dining area. It seemed that everyone was there, and everyone was staring at her.
She whispered, “Why are they staring?”
“There hasn’t been a dragoness fight like that in centuries. I wish that I had seen it.”
She patted his hand. “You were a contributing factor.”
Alanu came over and said, “Kana, that was amazing.”
“My eating? Kabyl said I could go pro.” She smiled.
“No, the fight. You running on water and then taking off.”
“Like a duck?”
Alanu smiled. “More like an enraged swan. We managed to record it. Your friend Melith used the camera until she tended to Koa. After that, she told us how to use it.”
Koa’s eyes got wide. “So, you have footage?”
“We do. The queen wants it transferred to the archives.” He paused. “With any other details between you.”
Kana frowned. “What other details?”
Alanu shrugged. “Oh, whatever comes up.”
Koa finished eating and washed his hands again. He said, “So, Kana, I will show you mine if you show me yours.”
Kana frowned. “Hey. I know that reference.”
He got to his feet and then reached down for her. She put her hands in his, and he lifted her to her feet. There were smiles as they left the room, and Kana muttered, “What’s going on?”
“We are going to fly together. It’s a courtship thing.”
He walked with her to the centre of the lushly grown grass. “So, Kana, this is my dragon.”
He stepped back and shifted in a heartbeat. He was an Asian dragon. Glossy black with sharp facets, he was a study in obsidian.
“Oh, pretty and very shiny.” She looked him up and down before ending up near his face. He carefully touched his muzzle to her.
Her dragon was purring. She thought he was gorgeous.
Kana muttered, “Okay, my turn.”
