Queen?

Could she? What of her fealty to her own queen?

“I don’t know, Jori.”

He looked a little deflated, “Okay, well, think about it.”

Then he was pulling her toward the windows, pulling his shirt off. Then his shoes. “Think about it while you’re teaching me how to fly, ’cause I suck at it.”

She stepped out onto the platform overlooking its lush valley. It was beautiful, even though there looked to be places where the greenery had been hit by falling meteors, with entire swaths of trees destroyed. At her feet, there were loose pine needles and bits of broken wood and bark, clumps of dirt littering the stone.

She smiled. Her dragon chuckled.

He pulled her into his arms, lowering his lips to hers.

It felt like forever since the last time they had a moment to touch.

Her belly flopped, wrenching a gasp from her.

“What is it?”

She pulled his hand to her lower abdomen where it felt like their baby was doing barrel rolls in her belly, stealing her breath.

Jori’s eyes widened, “Does it hurt?”

She shook her head, laughing, “Just strange.”

Freeing herself of her own clothes, she smiled at Jori as they stepped closer to the ledge.

Turning toward him, her fingers slid up the warm skin over his ribs and abs. She looked down and smiled, licking her lips. “Let’s see how far we can get for your first lesson, then we’ll talk about this new life you’re offering.”

His voice was husky, “Or we can just stay here and finish what you just started.”

She laughed, disengaging herself, and stepped back.

Her magic swarmed around her. The shell around the child tightened. She could fly for a little while. Her neon pink claws gripped the stone ledge, pulling Jori’s attention. He was magnificent in his dragon form.

Her dragon agreed, as she gracefully launched herself into the sky, showing him how it was done.
