I shook my head in disbelief, wondering what else this male had planned and was conspiring behind our backs… If he hadn’t saved my life multiple times already… I’d havezerotrust in him.

Malekai huffed, staring distantly at a smear of blood on Val’s wool rug beforewillingit away.

I inclined my head towards the door.
“You can go first… I should probably give her anger some time to dissipate… Plus, I need to help set up camp and discuss some things with Val.”
Malekai hesitated momentarily, scanning the remaining damage from our brawl, before giving me a heavy clap on the shoulder and pinning me beneath a turquoise gaze. His tone deceptively calm.
“I understand you’re hersoulbound,so I trust this won’t be an issue… But I still feel compelled to make you aware of the fact that… If you were to ever harm a single hair on Mareina’s head, I will not hesitate to gut you like a fucking pig… Outside of that… Let’s be friends. For Mareina’s sake.”
The male offered me his hand with a disdainfully winsome grin. My eyes dipped briefly to a gold ring boasting a dark red jewel in its center.
“I’m glad we share… similar sentiments. On all of the aforementioned…”
I couldn’t bother to force a smile on my face, but I embraced his hand in mine, holding firm, and leaned into his ear.
“I know you love her… The only reason you’re still breathing is because I know she cares for you, but…I still feel compelled to make you aware of the fact that…If you ever dared to try and take her from me, I will find far more creative ways of inflicting suffering upon you before you succumbed to death… But yes. Let us have this truce,friend.”
Malekai’s grin turned sharp as he held my gaze. Something dark and twisted glinted like a blade beneath the surface of his eyes that were far too pretty for any male to bear. My own grin blossomed at the sight.
Just as Lokus kicked my booted foot.
