Huh. The sultry red dragon was supposed to be out traveling through the universes. I wonder how she had discovered that Apollo had imprisoned me here in Delphi. Few could get this knowledge, and I doubted she was one of them.

Perhaps she was in cahoots with another goddess. Or with the parasites, given how they communicated in a hive manner and she had one herself. But those evil things were also under Apollo's control, so my bet was on Artemis or another god.

I glanced at the paper and wondered if flushing it would get rid of it when a small flame appeared on the edge furthest from my fingers. It then blackened the paper, heat coming off it in waves.

I squeaked, dropping it to the tiled floor, where the flames devoured it. Nothing remained—no residue, no fibers, nothing. The flame had consumed everything.

I shook my head, running my foot over the area to make sure nothing was there. Flushing the toilet anyway, I then took my time washing my hands.

Well, self-igniting paper made things easy. No one would guess I had received a message from outside the realm.

I sighed.

Staring into the glass, I wondered where Soren was. I missed him. A small vision appeared on the surface, showing me my mate in a cave, with Lexi and an older man sitting next to him. He looked—

Suddenly realizing what his trip was all about, I stared at the image in front of me. I mean, the evidence was right there. My mate was maturing on a world where time ran faster than Earth. Than, I hoped, it did here in Delphi. He now looked to be almost the same age as I was.

He had filled out, his body now one honed by physical labor and a natural diet. He was sitting in a pool of water, steam rising from its surface. His eyes were closed, but his face appeared sculpted, his cheekbones sharp in the dim light. He would give Apollo a run in the looks department.

Those lips made my heart skip a beat, and I wondered what it would be like to kiss them.

They curved up in response to something Lexi said. I tore my eyes from him to study my brother’s mate. Wow! She was beyond beautiful.

She was sitting on the edge of the pool, her feet in the water. Even with a towel wrapped around her, I could tell she was a woman now. Freckles covered her nose, giving her a gamin appearance. But the ones spattered over her chest emphasized that the little girl was now a woman.

She still resembled a delightful imp, as her green eyes sparkled with laughter. But she also shone with the light of Artemis, the goddess she was the living vessel for.

I knew that if my brother wasn't already in love with her, he would fall in an instant when he saw her again. Lexi was his perfect mate.

Before returning to Soren, I studied the man with them. Something about him seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite figure out what. He was not the same species as us—that was obvious—but similar enough. He had short hair that covered his body and his bulky arms were longer than most humans. His eyes were dark, but intelligence shown from them.

Who was he? And why was he helping these two?

Not knowing why, I was glad that someone was. They had survived so far. Perhaps they would return home soon since we now were of age.

Shivering, I realized what that would mean the next time we were together. We could complete our mating.

My eyes went back to Soren as he opened his hazel eyes, a lazy smile on his lips. He stared directly into mine as he mouthed words only for me.

I love you. I miss you.

My heart stuttered as my amazing, empathetic mate appeared to sense me watching him.

Thinking back hard at him, I replied. I love you too, and can’t wait to be with you, Soren.

His smile widened, and he stood up, the water streaming down his bronzed skin. He reached for a towel near him and—sue me!—I almost drooled as his muscles bunched and relaxed with every motion.

He was gorgeous.

Keeping his back towards me, he didn't expose more than lean muscles and rounded glutes. But oh, what a glorious sight those were!

He stepped out of the pool and dried himself off, wrapping the fabric around his waist when he was done.

Lexi asked him something, confusion obvious on her face. Soren laughed and turned back towards her—and me—pushing his wet hair out of his face.

He then spoke to her, and she peered around, a look of anticipation on her face. Speaking to her again, she slumped down, almost as if she had been hoping for something. To see someone.

He turned back and met my eyes, touching his fingers to those luscious lips, kissing them, and then holding them out to me.
