“What’s wrong?” Lexi called out from behind us, but I couldn’t answer her.

Renth did something, blurring his form before appearing once again as an oversized tiger. His form flickered again, and he was a pony. I don’t know where he was getting these images from, unless he was picking them from my memories.

He then changed once more into a huge black leopard, his lime green eyes gleaming back at me. The only thing not changing was that white tail, that swept back and forth behind him.

Your creatures are not as big as I am, but I like this one the best. It is close to how I appear on my world.

“Not a lion?” I brought the image of an African male lion to the front of my mind, surrounded by several females.

Renth chuffed, his visage staying the same. No. I like this one better.

O-kay. I turned and started forwarded again. “Guess we don’t have to worry too much about him.”

“Huh.” Tamerin walked beside me, a small grin on his face.

Chapter Ten

Lily

“Who are you?”

I watched the green eyes floating in the air, coming a little closer to me. I only got the feeling of curiosity from the being. “I am Lilianne. Soren’s mate.”

I wasn’t sure why I added that last bit, but it seemed important.

The eyes glowed like florescent moss, as some non-visible eyelids closed once, the movement languid. Opening again, they had changed to a lime green.

I took a step towards those glowing orbs, wanting to see what creature had those bright eyes. I could barely see the outline of what appeared to be a strange type of large cat, but with a horse's tail.

“Who are you?” I asked it softly.

“I am Thorenthacan. Soren calls me Renth. I live on a planet that has not yet been named. I have asked your mate to bring me back to Earth with him when he and his sister return. They are also bringing the Universa, Tamerin.”

So much in that statement for me to unpack. But first… “So he is going back soon?”

The gigantic head covered in black fur nodded. “They are getting ready for something they call a gate to appear.”

Relief filled me. Soren was going home. Well, he was going back to Earth, but I wasn’t there. I was still here on Delphi.

The creature cocked its head. “Where is this place? Delphi?”

I gave a strangled chuckle. “It is where Apollo lives. He is here with his minions, and at least one other god. The godling is Hermes, but he also goes by Henry.”

“Gods!” He growled, and I found myself wanting to step back away from him. I stood up straight, not eager to show this creature my fear. “They love to meddle. They are only men and women with some unique powers. But others exist similar to them. Lexi. Soren.” He stopped and his gaze sharpened as he met my eyes. “You.”

Well. What can I say about that? I wasn’t a god. But I was different, being an oracle. An oracle who wanted her other half. I changed topics.

“What—or who—is an Universa?”

The beast blinked again. “That is not my story to tell.” His manner was resolute. He wouldn't explain. Something in his tone, though, implied I knew someone who could.

I frowned.

“Why do you want to go to Earth?”

He turned his head away from me, looking off into the distance. “I feel a need to be with Soren. We are… Connected. Besides, I have heard of it, and have been curious. Things are happening there. I don’t understand how one insignificant world has such an impact on all the universes, but it does. Even we can sense this, on my home world.”

Interesting. I wanted to ask him more questions, but he stood and started padding away.
