The lecanifer chuffed softly, sitting by my side.

“That is—” Stet stared wide-eyed at my sister. “Spirit bladesmithing is a talent that was lost a long time ago. Not just anyone can create such weapons.”

Betta rolled her eyes. “Remember, she is Artemis’ mouth piece, Stet. Her godliness probably called to the spirits and persuaded them to merge with the metal.”

I raised one eyebrow at my gaterunning sibling. I doubted she was that far off from the truth.

Lark shifted his gaze, peering out into the distance. He stayed that way for several breaths before turning back to glance at Lexi.

“Shane and Holden are at Alemos with the triplets. They are worried about you two.”

Lexi eyed me. “Well, let’s go talk to them. I think they are one of the first people we need to introduce Tamerin to, in any case.” She glanced back at her mate. “Do you think you can get a message to Ravenal? She needs to be there, too. We would like to discuss the situation with Soren and Renth. Oh, and contact Maggie and James, too? It would be great to only have to go over this once for most everyone.”

He nodded, making several quick gestures in the energy wall.

I hadn’t been around my future brother-in-law much, but he had also grown in the interim. Both in maturity and power. Studying him, I realized he had added some muscle since the last time I had seen him. He wouldn’t match Konner in size, but he wasn’t someone to disregard either. But his use with the energy surrounding us was what made him stand out. He was now comfortable commanding it to do his bidding.

My familiar stood and padded over to the Gatekeeper, who jumped when he realized the enormous beast was standing right beside him.

Renth peered up into the man’s eyes, and they became locked in what I suspected was a conversation. The only thing I had heard before the lecanifer had pushed me out of their conversation was the word Gatekeeper.

My familiar knew much more than he had let on. And he was able to communicate with more people than he had led me to believe before.

Renth's gigantic head swung around, those lime green orbs drilling holes into me.

Of course. I can’t tell you everything in mere days, witchling. We have a lifetime to expose our secrets.

Lexi started giggling, which meant that the lecanifer had included some others in that thought. Even Betta and Lark had smiled.

Only Stet, who didn’t create mental bonds like we did, was excluded. He just kept his stony gaze, used to being on the outside given he hung around with lycanthropes and dragons.

Renth finished his private conversation with Lark, and the Gatekeeper gave him an affectionate pat on the head before glancing around at all of us.

“Okay, let’s go home.”

The gate opened behind Stet and Betta, and I could see Shane waiting in front of it, standing on Earth, waiting. My uncle's impatience showed in his constant movement, as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other.

Lexi and I exchanged a glance, both of us grimacing. It was time to pay the piper. Our foster parents were not happy with us.

My sister waved me forward, but I shook my head, my hand deep in Renth’s neck fur.

She shrugged and stepped through, smiling.

“Lexi! What did you do?” Holden shrieked, rushing to grab her and hold her out in front of her.

Lark followed her, standing off to the side, a grin on his face.

Shane glanced at her, shifted his eyes to Lark, and then went back at his niece. Yep, he got it. I knew he would.

“I suspect wanting to be the same age as her mate had something to do with this,” he stated, the resignation clear in his voice.

He turned and yelled, “Soren! Get your butt out here!”

I grimaced, making my way through the gate, Renth walking beside me, his head swiveling to take in everything.

“What the hell?” My uncle leaped in front of his daughters, who had just seen the lecanifer. They screamed with joy, darting towards us to give my familiar pets.

Shane only got one, before the other two dodged him and jumped on Renth, who lowered himself to the ground to let them play on his back.
