“There are rules here, Uncle Tamerin. You need to be human. Shift.”

He eyed her with confusion. “But this is who I am. I cannot change shapes like I guess you can.”

That made her frown before she turned around to glare at her mother. “Why can you shift, but Uncle Tamerin can't?”

Holden sighed, glancing at her husband before turning back to explain to her daughter, “Because I'm not pure Universa, Roxy. My father—your grandfather—must have been because he couldn’t shift either. But my mother, your grandmother, can. And you know I need Daddy’s help to change into my wolf most of the time. It isn’t something natural for me. Not like it is for you and your sisters.”

That caused the little girl to pause, thinking it through. While she was standing still, Holden lifted her back up into her arms, giving her a kiss on her cheek. Roxy giggled, returning her mother's affection.

Shane pulled out his phone and handed it to Holden. “See if you can call your parents. It would be good to let them know what is going on here.”

I glanced over at the others, who stood surrounding them, not sure what to say. Gesturing to the witch, I convinced her to come over to stand next to me.

“Ravenal, this is Renth. He is my familiar. Renth, this is my coven leader.”

The lecanifer yawned, showing off all his sharp teeth, before sitting up. Lauren tumbled off him to the ground. She giggled, jumping up and running over to her father, wrapping her arms around his leg.

Greetings, Coven Leader. I am here with Soren to discover this world. But you need to tell him about his mate.

I turned to stare at her. “Lily? What is wrong with Lily? Where is she?” I pivoted, looking around for her.

Ravenal glared at the lecanifer before sighing, her body slumping with distress. “Your familiar knows more than someone not from the coven should. Someone kidnapped your mate. We don’t know who or why, but she is not at the house anymore. We cannot track her. She walked down to the portal at the edge of our lands and entered it. But she never got to where she was going. We don’t know where she went or who took her.” Tears filled the older witch’s eyes as she relayed this information.

She is fine and is handling her captivity well. There was much for her to learn in the place she ended up. She will leave there soon, I think.

I turned to Renth. “You talked with her?”

The enormous beast nodded, his eyes trained on me even as Lauren returned to wrap herself around one of his front legs.

“Lauren, baby, come give your Auntie Maggie some love!” Maggie walked over and scooped the little girl up. She started giggling as the older omega shoved her face into the girl’s belly and blew raspberries. That changed the giggles into shrieks of laughter.

James shifted back to human and stretched. “Here, Holden. Let me take Roxy from you.” He grabbed the little urchin, who was squeezing her mother’s neck tight now.

“No! No! I want to stay with Mama!” she screamed in Holden’s ear, causing her mother to wince from the volume.

“What?” The man gasped. “You don’t want to play dragon with me? To fly through the sky?”

We all watched as Roxy thought about that for all of two seconds before leaping at him.

Luckily, he was ready, chuckling as he flipped her around to lay flat on her belly in his arms. He started running and twirling around with her, making roaring noises.

The tiny red-headed imp laughed, her own arms out in front of her like she was a flying superhero.

“Thank you, James.” Holden rubbed her neck where the little girl had been strangling her. She turned back to her uncle, who was smiling down at Hope. Her daughter was staring up at him with complete adoration. “Let me see if I can reach my father.”

She pulled out her phone and tapped in several numbers. “Don’t think we won’t discuss what you did and the fact you are now so much older, you two,” she stated, glaring at my sister and me as she hit the connect button.

Lexi flinched. I grinned, my eyes meeting Maggie’s. She rolled her eyes. Maggie, as an omega, had known how we had felt about being way too young to act on our mate bonds. Except, right now, only my sister could explore it.

I had to find Lily first.

“Where are they this time?” Shane wrapped an arm around his wife, his eyes scanning the clearing. He never stopped being the Alpha he was, always there to protect his mate, family, and pack. Holden shrugged, hanging up after getting no response.

Lark stood with Lexi pulled in tight to his side. He lowered his head to lay it on top of hers, intermingling his dark blond strands with her red locks. My sister had grown taller during our little adventure and was now only about six inches shorter than Lark’s six-foot one inch frame.

Betta and Stet lingered at the gate, never more than a step from the threshold. They rarely came to Earth for long. I suspected it was because of how different the peace guardian appeared from the rest of us. He couldn’t pass for human in any manner, and it made him feel uncomfortable here on this planet. Besides, Betta, as a gaterunner, was happy to travel with him among the various universes.

It surprised me that Holden and Shane had been here alone with their family. Everyone doted on those little girls and protected them like the jewels they were. Of course, now James and Maggie were here to help protect them all.
