She stared back at him before spinning towards her brother. “Do you know what this means? Does his bond understand?”

Tamerin shrugged. “I do. But I also know those two young people, and while they sometimes like to know what I know, they also want to figure things out for themselves. Renth will explain in his own time. Soren will learn as it is meant to be. That is how it should play out.”

Belesh frowned, scoffing out her disdain. “Brothers. Way too philosophical. You were always looking at the future possibilities. Not seeing the science and the facts in front of your face.”

I chuckled, listening to the conversation downstairs, my arms around my mate. Lily looked up into my face and an impish grin crossed her lips. She slipped out of my hold, grabbing my hand to tug me towards her room. Renth would have to take care of himself for a while.

I'm more than capable of doing that, Soren. The children are amusing and watching all these people find out about us newcomers has been enlightening. I am learning so much. Some things were told to me at one time, but I never believed they could be true. Other things I never even would have guessed were true but are. Go secure your bond with your mate. Renth turned back to the conversation going on around him.

And his presence in my mind faded until I could barely feel him.

Lily pulled me into her room, closing the door while her eyes traveled over my body. She took a step closer, and she touched my chest, her gaze rising to meet mine.

“You grew up good, Soren,” she grinned, her hands stroking up to my shoulders and down my arms before returning to settle around my neck.

I shivered, not saying anything as I watched her. Her touch was light as one hand then moved down my body to travel the ridges of my abdomen. All the manual tasks I had done on that planet had fine-tuned my body. My muscles were those of someone who had used them to survive. I was glad my mate appreciated them.

She smirked up at me as her hands traveled down to the top of my pants, her fingers tickling the skin above my waistband. But her words conflicted with her touch. "Apollo will be back, and much sooner than those downstairs will expect. He doesn’t want to lose me. But he can’t have me if we are to win. We have bigger fish to fry than one possessive god.” Her voice was a whisper, and I had to strain to hear her words.

They filled me with fear. What was worse than a god determined to kidnap one of us? Or one who would do anything to come out on top?

Lily stared into my face, her eyes shifting to white before they went back to her pale lavender. “Earth is at a precipice. If it falls over, all human life will die. We must give ourselves time to fix this issue. Because if our world dies, the universe will fall with it. It is like the rings of water when you drop a stone into a pond. The ripples will have devastating impact throughout all the universes.”

That was bad, and I frowned, but before I could say a word, Lily rose onto her toes to kiss me.

I wrapped my arms around her and she now felt tiny to me. Small and delicate. But I knew she was anything but that.

I kissed her back, putting all of my longing for her into it. Her hands went up under my T-shirt and stroked my back, her touch filling me with the need to do more.

She pulled back enough so that our mouths weren’t touching, but I could feel the puff of air that left her lips with every word. “Not now, my love. Too many people downstairs. Our first time should be just for us.”

I sighed. “I love you, Lily. I've missed you every day. Every second I was away. I wanted this—to be older—but I also hated being away from you.”

She gave me another quick kiss. “I know. But we both had to find out that we could stand on our own. Well, you always knew you could, but I had to learn. I am not delicate. I can now pull the energy I need when I need it. I'm more than I was a few days ago.”

Placing my forehead against hers, I smiled. “I know.”

“Food’s ready! Stop kissy-kissing and come eat!” Lexi’s voice blasted up from downstairs, causing us to grin at my sister’s silliness.

Chapter Eighteen

Lily

I didn’t want to go downstairs right now.

Nope. I wanted to stay up here with my mate and cuddle. He had turned into a hunk somehow. While I wasn't happy he had gone away to that planet to achieve his goal, I would not argue with the results. Not only was he the same age as me, he was hot!

And he was all mine.

Sighing, I was happy we were together again. I wrapped my body around his, my nose tucked into his neck.

“You know my sister will come up here and drag us down, right?” His amused tone was deeper than it had been before, causing my insides to shiver. He kissed the top of my head, one arm pulling me in closer to him.

“Yep. Don’t care.”

He chuckled. “Well, she is going to be here in—”

Feet pounded up the stairs, while I could hear multiple people downstairs shouting at her.
