“No but he’d fucking try, and I don’t need his shit today.” His hands slid down her back. “Trev made dinner, so I hope you ate a big lunch. The kid’s a fucking disaster in the kitchen. C’mon.”

She jutted forward and grabbed his hand. “Is he okay? I mean, you told him too, right?”

Cade tightened his hold on her hand. “Yeah, he was there. Told him everything. Had to. My kid fucking loves you, more than he’s ever loved any female in his life.”

“What did he say?”

“Nothing. Had nothing to say ’cause he was worried about you. Just like the rest of us pussies, his heart is breaking for ya. He wants to help, is all. You bring out a side to the Reilly men we didn’t know existed.”

She smirked. “Your pussy side?”

Caden rolled his eyes and barked out a laugh. “Fucking smartass. C’mon, let’s eat.”

Chapter Nineteen

“Wait, Cade.” Marissa practically had to run to catch up with him. He had her suitcase in one hand and her overnight bag in the other, strolling as though he was carrying nothing. His biceps flexed, distracting her for a brief second. He had the most amazing arms. She blinked and shook her head. She jogged to catch up with him in the lot.

“Cade.”

He seemed bent on ignoring her.

He had come to her apartment fifteen minutes earlier and announced she was moving into the house. He mentioned something about needing the unit but didn’t go into further detail, which made her suspicious.

She grabbed her bag strap, which got his attention, and he halted and glanced over his shoulder.

“Riss, I gotta take a call in twenty.”

She snorted. “Should have thought about that before you decided to move me.”

“Told ya, I need the place.”

She narrowed her gaze. “You do not.” She sighed. “But if you insist on kicking me out of the apartment, then I’ll sleep on your couch.”

Cade furrowed his brows and rested her bags on the ground. His demeanor changed, and his face turned a dark shade of red. Was he angry?

“Fuck no, you won’t,” he barked. “You’re in my bed, Riss.”

She raised her brows. Yeah, he was not happy.

“I can’t just move into your house.”

“Why the fuck not?”

She sighed. The thought of being with him day in and day out was enticing, but they had to think of Trevor. “How will it look to Trevor, us shacking up in your room? He’s sixteen. He’s going to think we’re having sex.”

He smirked. “We are gonna be having sex.” He drew in a breath and crossed his arms. “Hate to break it to ya, sweetheart, but Trev knows we fuck.”

“No, he might think it, but he doesn’t know.”

Caden clamped his lips, and he gazed up with an odd, knowing look.

“What?”

Caden dropped his arms and strolled toward her. “Nothing. Listen, Riss, I want ya with us. Not just me but Trev and Pop. We hang out at your place, it takes me away from them. I’m at home, you’re at your place, I don’t get to see ya. You staying at the house is what I want. Isn’t that what you want?”

“Yes but…”

He wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her against him. “No buts, let’s go.”
