“They are so damn cute together.” The female voice came from behind. Marissa glanced over her shoulder to find Macy and Chey staring at her, smiling. Are we cute together? Marissa smirked, ducking her head and shifting closer to Caden. When he tugged her hand, she followed behind him.

They entered the concrete stadium, and she sucked in a breath and stopped. She slowly scanned the area. Oh my God.

Caden pulled her closer. “What’s wrong?”

She could feel her eyes widen, and she jerked her gaze up. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen this many people in one place.”

Caden grinned. “Yeah, the whole town and the surrounding ones shut down on Friday nights for the game.”

“Wow.”

He snickered and pulled her along. They made their way to mid-section where there were only a few spots open. Drake stood up and waved them over. They filed in past a few people, who smiled at her, and she took her seat between Caden and Dylan. Rourke, Macy, Trax, and Chey had taken seats behind them.

“Oh crap, how the hell are we supposed to find Trevor? They all look alike.”

Marissa smiled and turned in her seat. “Trevor is number sixty-four on the blue and white team.”

Macy reached out and grabbed her shoulder. “Thanks, girl.”

It was an odd feeling. She had left all her people behind when she moved, and somehow, this small new group felt like home. It was strange. She turned in her seat to catch Caden staring at her with a small smile playing on his lips.

She weaved her hand through his arm and leaned forward. “What?” she whispered.

“You know his number.”

She shrugged. “I asked him so I knew who to cheer for.”

Caden remained silent, staring at her. It was on the tip of her tongue to ask what was wrong. She never got the chance. Caden leaned forward, taking her lips for a slow, sweet kiss. She closed her eyes and nuzzled her nose against his. This man was her undoing. He pulled away, smiling,

The men made small talk while she took everything in. All this for high school football? The band came out and played and then took their seats in the stands. She watched the cheerleaders flip one another in the air, catching them each time. The excitement in the air was contagious, and she bounced a little in her seat.

“Is this where you went to school?”

Caden took a sip of his water and nodded.

“Did you play football too?”

“Yeah, but not anything like Trev.”

Marissa reached out, taking his hand. “I bet you were good.”

“I was all right.”

She knocked her shoulder against his and smirked. “I bet you were great, Cade.”

He stared at her as if trying to see something, his eyes searching. She caught his faint smile before he turned his head to the field.

When the players came out, she sat up, extending her back and raising her head a little higher. They all looked the same in their uniforms. They were moving around, and she couldn’t quite see him. Sixty-four, sixty-four. Where was he?

Caden brushed his mouth against her ear and pointed out into the field. “He’s right there, near the second bench.”

She lifted her ass from the bleachers and zoned in on Trevor. He was slightly taller than most of the other boys. She smiled and sat back down. Caden leaned into her again. “I like that.” She turned her head, not sure what he meant. He kissed her lips and smiled. “You looking for my kid.”

A siren blasted, and the game began. Breaking her stare from Caden, she set her sights onto the field.

The game was hard to follow, but both Caden and Dylan explained most everything. By the fourth quarter, she had a better understanding of the game. When Trevor was thrown the ball, she shot up from her seat and screamed. “Go Trev!” She hadn’t even realized she was doing it until the crowd jumped from their seats to watch Trevor make a touchdown.

The whole stadium went crazy cheering, including her, and she sat back down feeling Caden’s stare. She glanced over, and he was grinning. “You a fan of football now?”
