“None of your goddamn business, Franny.” A grunt escapes me when she jabs me in the side. “Where’s your husband?”

“And Lacie?” Ava adds.

“Why?”

“We got something for the three of you, as well.” When I flash the envelope with Ava’s neat scrawl across the front, Fran runs to get Grayson and Lacie who’s sat at the long banquet table, talking to Dad.

“Now everyone is together, Ava and I wanted to give you these—” I hand Mom and Fran their respective envelopes while Ava gives Lacie hers, and together we watch them tear them open with more excitement than I imagined before reading the cards.

“All great parents deserve to be upgraded to grandparents twice over.” Mom looks up at me, a big grin spreading across her face.

“Shut up!” Fran squeals, doing away with my apprehension about telling her that Ava and I are pregnant again.

Lacie looks at Ava with a soft smile. “Really? Again?”

“Really.”

“Is that why you were panicking about the dress fitting?” she asks Ava.

“It almost didn’t.”

“Oh my goodness, guys—” Mom’s happy sob muffles her words as she pulls Ava in for an embrace. “—this is the best wedding favor. Another grandbaby, you hear that honey?”

“Did I hear it?” Dad chuckles, hoisting Knox higher up his chest so that he can look over all of us. “Congratulations, Son.” Dad slaps my shoulder as he comes in for a man hug. “I’m proud of you.”

“Thanks, Dad.”

When he pulls away, Eden and Knox are tangled up again. The two of them are peas in a pod. It’s impossible to separate them.

“Do you know what you’re having?” Grayson asks, wrapping his arm around Fran protectively.

The apprehension I was feeling before is written all over his face now. I can’t imagine how difficult this news must be for them, but I would never exclude Fran from anything this important to me. In all the ways that matter, she is my sister.

“Not yet,” I tell him. “But we’re all in trouble if it’s another madame like this one.” Putting Eden down on the lawn, I watch as she ambles over to Knox and grasps his hand to steady herself.

“Hey,” Ava sings in my ear, rounding to my front and draping her arms around my neck. “Kids are busy, wanna dance with your wife, Mr. Coldwell?”

“Isn’t it almost time to head to the hotel, Mrs. Coldwell?”

The feel of her chest rubbing over mine when she rolls onto her tiptoes and buries her face in my neck, is fucking delicious. There isn’t a cell of my being that isn’t fully attuned to the needy hum of her breaths when she whispers in my ear, “Do you think we can sneak away early?”

“Like now?”

“Like right now.”

I pull back to find her half-lidded gaze full of longing and desire. This is the best part of pregnancy—Ava’s constantly ready to fuck. The ultimate role reversal, especially when she ventures into my office during the day to get her fix. If this pregnancy is anything like Eden’s, I’ll be living inside her at the end.

“Excuse us,” I announce, pulling Ava with me to the dancefloor. “I’m going to dance with my wife now.”

“Your wife,” Ava giggles, causing my chest to squeeze tight around my excited heart. “Damon Coldwell has a wife…”

“And a daughter,” I add, swaying her around in circles through the dancefloor.

We’re at the edge closest to the house when Ava whispers, “And you’re going to have a son.”

Amazement stuns me. We’re stock still. The world revolving around our bubble while my beautiful wife smiles up at me.

“A boy…” Wonder paints my voice as I imagine a kid with Ava’s bright blue eyes, just like Eden, and their pouty lips and wavy dark hair.
