His eyes went wide with understanding. “Okay, Angel. Let’s go have some fun.” He held his hand out to her.

She took it and followed him to the door, down thestairs, and to the bar’s kitchen door. The second he opened it, the music spilled out, along with the smell of pulled pork sliders and French fries.

Nervous butterflies fluttered in her belly. She didn’t know why. She’d sung on stage hundreds of times. Even in front of Mason. But this time, it was her song for him, and she really wanted him to like it.

She said hello to everyone in the kitchen as they walked through and out to the bar where Aria was ringing up an order.

“You ready?” Aria gave her an encouraging smile.

“Pour him a glass of my red.”

Aria knew the wine she loved and had become one of Mason’s favorites, too.

He squeezed her hand. “Are you going to clue me in to what’s going on?”

Aria handed him his drink.

Lyric pulled him behind her toward the stage and pointed to the chair beside where Melody stood ready to record her performance, so she could post it to their YouTube channel. Lyric had snuck down to the bar earlier this morning, while Mason showered, to record the song and put it up for sale. She had a feeling the song could be something people related to and liked enough to download.

She took the stage to a round of cheers as the playlist song ended and everyone waited for her to sing. She grabbed her guitar and sat on the stool, then started the way she always started. “Hello, Dark Horse Dive Bar.”

“Hello,” the crowd answered back.

“Who wants to hear a brand-new song?”

“We do,” the crowd roared.

She met Mason’s intense gaze. “Ever since we met,all the songs I write now are songs about you. This one is yours.”

The start to the song resonated with how they began, slow and steady, the chords and rhythm rising like the spark of love had in her heart all those months ago, and now grew stronger with every beat.

And then she sang to him, seeing the spark of surprise and love and pride and joy as she spoke to him in a way that he understood came from her soul through her music.

You walk into my bar

Sparks fly like a shooting star

Looking good in black denim

You take a seat and I’m silently beggin’

What’s your name?

A surprised smile lit up his whole face.

Is it luck I’m havin’

A moment worth saving.

A lifetime I’ve been waiting.

What’s your name?

I see you

You see me

Can’t take my eyes off you
