“He almost fired at the RHIB,” Hunter informed us.

“Hey, it was a slight miscalculation.”

“You were ninety degrees in the wrong fucking direction,” Hunter argued.

“I corrected it!”

“Hey!” I snapped. “Get your fucking asses in the RHIB now. The last thing we need is more company.”

“I could just get back in the tank,” Sinner suggested, pointing at his new best friend.

“I could also leave your ass behind,” I growled.

He frowned, staring down at the tank. “But I just got this.”

“And if we don’t get out of here, that’ll be your home for the foreseeable future,” I snapped.

“We need to get Cap to a hospital. I don’t know what the fuck you gave him, but it’s making his breathing too shallow. We need to haul ass,” Rocco said urgently.

“Are you in or out?” I shouted at Sinner and Hunter.

“In!”

They came running over, both of them jumping in, but as Sinner planted his feet, Lola hip-checked him, knocking him overboard. He came up spluttering, wiping the water from his face.

“Not cool,” he said, taking her hand as she helped haul him into the RHIB.

“That was payback,” Lola smirked.

“For what?”

“You know what.”

MAGGIE

I paced the conference room at Reed Security. Becky kicked me out of the IT room an hour ago when I wouldn’t stop bugging her. In my defense, my husband was an ass.

“I’m sure he’s fine,” Kate said to me, sitting in one of the chairs. I shot her a knowing look, understanding she was just as worried as I was. All of the wives were, but I sent them out to the range, blowing shit up to stay calm. I, unfortunately, didn’t have that luxury.

I ran my hand over my large belly and blew out a breath. Kate had been ordered to stay by my side at all costs, which was just a gigantic pain in my ass when I was trying to grab a plane ticket down to the Amazon to kick some ass and get my husband home. The last I heard, he was unable to come to the satellite phone, but no one would tell me why. That was twelve hours ago.

“Pacing the room isn’t going to get you there any faster.”

I ignored Kate and tried to think of any reason he could possibly be out of contact. And why none of the other men were getting back to me. I knew Becky was hiding something from me. She was taking Sebastian’s side on this one, which had to mean that something bad had happened.

Becky came running around the corner, the sat phone in her hand. “I have Burg on the phone for you.”

“Why would I want to talk to him?” I snapped. “Where’s my husband?”

She shrugged, handing it over. “Just talk to him.”

I took it from her outstretched hand and pressed it to my ear. “I swear to God, you’d better have some really fucking good news for me.”

“Freckles, you need to calm down. Remember your condition.”

“My condition,” I spat, “is about to get a lot fucking worse if someone doesn’t give me some fucking answers!”
