“Shouldn’t we find someplace to hide out?” I shouted over the gunfire.

The gunfire died down for a few seconds and I took the opportunity to take a few shots. Popping up, I aimed at the men racing behind us. With the bumps in the barely existent road, it was unlikely I’d hit anything, but it might make them back off.

Bullets pinged off the side of the Jeep as we took a hard right and a tree branch smacked me in the back of the head. “Ouch!” I shouted.

“You should watch out for trees!” Jackson shouted. “They’re everywhere!”

“No shit?” I said, firing off two more rounds.

“He’s not lying!” Gabe shouted. “This is the jungle! There are over three hundred and ninety billion trees out here!”

I straightened and fired again, emptying my magazine. “Did you just google that?”

He frowned at me. “I don’t have reception here. I just know shit!”

“Yeah, that’s the shit I know too,” I retorted.

“I did my research. It was important.”

“It was important to know how many trees there were?” I asked, ejecting the magazine from my gun. “Did you think going to the Amazon, you might not find any?”

“Yeah, that’s exactly what I thought,” Gabe said sarcastically.

“No snakes, either, right?”

“Of course not. Why would there be snakes out here?”

I slid a new magazine into my weapon and turned back around in my seat. “Bet you thought you were going on a fucking cruise!”

“That would have been nice,” Jackson grinned. “Laying out in the sun all day, drinking margaritas…”

“Why would you be drinking margaritas?” I shouted over the wind whipping around us.

“Because that’s what you do on a fucking cruise!”

“Eles sempre agem assim?” the woman shouted. Do they always act like this?

“Oh, man,” Rob laughed. “I love it when you talk dirty to me.”

“Do you even know what she’s saying?” I asked, not entirely convinced he knew her like he was saying.

“Totally. She says she’s hot for me. She can’t wait to get home and do really nasty shit to me.”

“She said all that in one small sentence?”

“Vocês todos falam demais. Há trabalho a fazer. Acho que vou ter que cuidar disso sozinho.” You all talk too much. There is work to do. I guess I’ll have to take care of this myself.

“What’d she say now?” I shouted, ducking when a bullet came just a tad too close to my head.

“Oh, tons of dirty shit. I can’t even tell you. It would be inappropriate to repeat all the stuff she said.”

She jerked the wheel to the left, sending me flying against the door. My feet went flying in the air as I flipped over the door, barely grasping onto the top before I was left in the dust.

“Hey!” I shouted, trying to get Rob’s attention. “Pull me in!”

But nobody was listening. The woman behind the wheel was driving straight at the oncoming vehicles. I stared at them in horror, knowing I was either about to be shot or would crash into a tree if I let go.

She shouted, holding a gun in her hand as she leaned out the side of the vehicle and fired round after round until she hit the driver and sent him crashing into a nearby tree.
