“It’s not six,” Sinner sighed. “I distinctly remember birthing more than six.”

“You didn’t birth them,” I snapped. “You helped deliver them.”

“Same difference,” he argued.

“Unless you were pushing them out of your non-existent vagina, you didn’t birth them!” I shouted, earning me a glare from Knight.

“Do you two want to live to see your kid being born?”

“My kid,” I grumbled, though Sinner could stake a claim just as much as me at this point.

“I’m just saying, you have to be missing one,” Wolf interjected. “There’s Caitlin.”

“Clara,” Sinner nodded.

“Gunner,” I added.

“The three of them,” Sinner continued.

I stopped nodding and stared at him incredulously. “The three of them?”

He rolled his eyes at me. “Like you remember all their names.”

“I do,” I insisted.

“Yeah? Then which ones are the triplets?”

My mouth opened, but nothing came out. Hell, there were too many of them. “Which was the kid before them?”

“Tucker,” Rocco said.

“You have a kid named Tucker?” Wolf frowned. “Since when?”

“Since always,” I snapped, pretending I hadn’t forgotten about him. “The point is…” Fuck, I already forgot why we were talking about this.

“The point is that we have to find cover so you can call your fucking wife and be there when she has the kid,” Knight said, walking across the boat and hauling me up. Now that he was closer, I could see every detail of his face through the slits that were my eyes. “There’s not really any way to make this look better. On the other hand, you can deal with that when you get back.”

“Yeah, like I want to deal with her later. That’ll be better.”

“I could always make sure you never make it home,” Knight said, a smirk tilting his lips.

“Thanks, but I think I’ll take her wrath over death by rattlesnake.”

“I don’t think you actually die of a rattlesnake bite, Cap,” Wolf said.

“Can we get back to the problem at hand?” Knight snapped.

“That he’s going to see his wife, and then we’re all going to be on Maggie’s bad side?” Lola asked as she lounged on the floor, staring at the stars.

“Hey, imagine if Ryan knew where you were right now. Maybe I’ll give him a call while I’m on the phone with Maggie.”

Lola sat up suddenly, her face just inches from mine. “Don’t you dare threaten me.”

“Don’t use Maggie against me,” I shot back.

Hunter, who hadn’t said a word in the longest time, finally stood. “Calm the fuck down. You’re acting like you should be scared of Maggie, but she’s halfway across the world. What’s the worst she can do?”

“Castrate me as soon as I get home,” I said immediately.
