I grabbed Jenna’s chin and forced her to look at me. “No dates. No birth control. And I expect you to have a bag packed and be ready to go on Friday.”

She nodded, her eyes wide and her mouth forming a little O. I chuckled and brushed my fingertips over her lips, then set her off my lap.

Linus opened the door and helped her out before looking at me for what I wanted him to do. “Take her home,” I instructed him. “I need a few minutes.”

He smirked, and I shot him a scathing look, but he just slammed the door shut. Jackass.

CHASE

“Um, Chase?” Linus called to me through the lowered partition in the car.

I looked up from the patient report I was reading and frowned when I saw his apprehensive expression. “What is it?”

“Anne just called, and…it’s about Jenna. I highly suggest you stay calm.”

“Too late,” I fumed since I was clearly going to be furious at whatever he was about to tell me. When it involved my woman, I was rarely logical.

“She just met her sister at an Italian restaurant in the village.”

“Okay. Why would—” Oh, hell to the fucking no. She wouldn’t.

Before I could form another word, Linus sighed. “Already headed there. But you should take the time to—”

“Linus, I swear, if you tell me to calm down one more time, you’re going to be breathing through a tube after I kick your ass.”

“Yes, sir.”

I rolled my eyes, not in the right frame of mind to care that he only called me “sir” when he was pissed at me.

After the longest fifteen minutes of my life, we rolled to stop in front of a quaint, romantic-looking Italian restaurant. I hopped out of the car, my rage growing with every step.

“Hello!” a perky hostess said when I stormed inside. “Do you have a reservation?”

“I’m not staying,” I snarled. “Just here to pick someone up.”

“Sir, I don’t think…”

I didn’t hear whatever she said because I’d spotted the table I was searching for and marched toward it.

The two dipshits from Jenna’s high school sat at a table, looking smug and talking quietly. While Jenna and Dani stood in a nearby alcove, arguing in whispers.

I stopped at the table first and bent over, slamming my hands down and getting into their personal space. “Get. Out.”

“Who the fuck are you?” Comden snapped.

“Someone you don’t want to fucking mess with.” My tone was low and dangerous, and despite their attempted bravado, I saw the sweat beading on their upper lips.

“Are you their dad or something?” Awstynn mumbled as he glanced between me and the direction of the girls.

A sinister smile curled my lips. “Oh, no. I’m so much worse.”

The little shits looked at each other, clearly trying to decide whether to run like little bitches or stand their ground like complete idiots.

“I’m going to give you one more chance to get out of this restaurant with what’s left of your dignity, or I can throw you out after I break multiple bones in your body.”

“No lay is worth this shit,” Comden muttered as he pushed his chair back. “Even if she is a virgin.”
