It didn’t matter if he was talking about Jenna or Dani. A red haze filled my vision, and my fist hit his jaw with enough force that there was an audible and satisfying crack.

“You broke his jaw!” Awstynn whined, his eyes swimming with fear.

“Did I?” I snorted. I was a fucking doctor, I knew exactly where to strike and what would happen.

I glanced up to see Linus standing off to the side. I jerked my chin at the punks. “Take out the trash.” Done with that shit, I spun around, and my eyes locked with Jenna’s.

A part of me had worried she would look frightened since I was sure I looked like a madman. I was barely keeping a leash on my anger.

I registered that she only looked cautious, not afraid, which freed up that part of my brain to be filled with fury.

Jenna had my full attention, but as I approached, I heard Dani speak. “Who are—wait…Dr. Sex—I mean, Sutton?”

Jenna tossed her sister a venomous glare, and if I hadn’t been so monumentally pissed, I might have smiled at her irritation.

“It’s not what you think,” Jenna snapped, putting her hands on her hips and glaring at me just as fiercely as I was at her.

A hand on my shoulder caused me to whip my head around, ready to bite the head off whoever it was. Linus squeezed hard, enough that I registered the pain, and it dissipated some of my red haze.

“Let’s move this conversation somewhere more private,” he suggested, though it sounded more like an order.

I glanced around and realized that every eye was on us—most of them frightened, some of them appalled. Shit. The hostess stood behind the podium, staring open-mouthed, phone in hand.

Next to her was an older man in a black apron, holding a wad of bills. He reached over to the hostess and grabbed her phone, setting in on the podium before pocketing the cash. Then he looked at the door and back at me before spinning on his heel and walking through a swinging door.

“I gave him enough to cover damages, everyone’s dinner, and to keep all their mouths shut,” Linus murmured.

I nodded my thanks, and he let up the pressure of his grip on my shoulder.

Turning back to my girl, I held out my hand. “Let’s go.”

Jenna sighed and put her hand in mine. “Come on, Dani.”

“Jenna—”

She turned her glare on her sister again. “Zip it and let’s go, baby sister. You’ve gotten me in enough trouble tonight.”

“I should have strangled you with the umbilical cord in the womb,” Dani muttered as we moved toward the exit.

Linus had the back door open and helped Dani inside before stepping back so I could get Jenna in, then slid in behind her. He shut the door, and I exhaled slowly as I stretched my legs out in front of me, trying to rein in my temper.

Dani and Jenna had taken the bench seat across from me, and for the moment, that suited my purposes.

I crossed my arms over my chest and scanned my girl from head to toe, taking inventory to make sure I didn’t spot any injuries. A quick glance at Dani, then back at Jenna made me realize that whereas Dani was wearing a dress, heels, and makeup, my girl was in jeans, a cute puffy-ish blouse, and flip-flops.

When my gaze returned to Jenna’s face, she raised an eyebrow. “Are you ready to listen?”

“Watch it, sunshine. You’re on perilously thin ice.”

Jenna sighed and crossed one shapely leg over the other, diverting my attention for a moment. Then I shook the effect off.

“Okay,” I ground out through a clenched jaw. “Explain to me why I found you out with your sister and the two pricks when I expressly told you no dates.”

“She—”

“Shut up, Dani,” Jenna seethed. “If he’s going to be pigheaded, then he can—“

“Baby,” I growled, interrupting her. “I might have to wait until Friday, but don’t think I won’t turn your ass cherry red.”
