"He won't help you here," I say with a grin. "The holy trio doesn't hang around in these parts. All you get are the devils acting their revenge. So you'd better spill your guts before Maxy here takes them out and plays with them like spaghetti noodles."

"Who is the head of that operation?" Jericho asks again. "And why did you want to bring them here?"

"Fucking money," Kent grits out, heaving a breath when Jericho steps back, twirling the blood-soaked knife between his fingers, watching it with fascination.

Not as tight-lipped as he had hoped. It’s funny what a little pain can bring to the game. Oh, and lions. They all think they’re prepared for it, but they’re really not. They can plan and plan, but when it comes down to it—pain always wins.

"Of course. Greed breeds the evil of the world, doesn't it? So, you thought you'd bring a new supply to town, pocket the money, and form an alliance of some sort?" Jer raises a brow, eyeing the blood dripping down his fingers in awe. I swear his dick grows three times bigger, and his pupils do the same. Shit. We should fuck Journey in a delicious pool of blood. Or paint. Something red. I want to paint her in colors. I side-eye Shepp as my mind works way too fast.

‘Center yourself,’ he signs, taking a deep breath and indicating for me to do the same.

"I was just thinking about painting Journey in blood or paint or cum," I say, humming at the fantasy working through my mind.

She would be tied up on my bed so she can't run away. Us hovering above her and...

Shepp clinks his rings together, gaining my attention. ‘Focus,’ he signs, gesturing to the man, slowly dwindling away from the stab wound.

"Right. We're slowly murdering a man for information," I say, clearing my throat.

"Spit it out, Kent. I'm tired of waiting," Jericho shouts, jabbing the knife straight into his thigh.

Ouch. That had to hurt. "Stay, Max," I murmur, twirling my fingers through his hair again.

"I needed money," Kent gasps out. "Lots of money."

"So, you made this deal, got lots of money, and sold off your daughter all in one go." Jer raises a brow, moving the blade over Kent's ear.

"Yes!" he shouts, crying out when Jer cuts through his ear completely, leaving him a sobbing and snotty mess. “The Blue Spider gang agreed to my terms, and we were going to start distributing soon.”

"They used to do that to women, ya know? If they did something bad like cheat on their husbands or make bad deals with another gang, they'd chop off their ears. Both of them." I grin, watching with fascination as Jericho begins cutting the next one.

"Wait," Kent pants, testing his restraints again.

"Why would I?" Jericho says with a shrug, continuing to cut through his ear. Kent screams out in pain, thrashing against the restraints again until tears fall from his pathetic eyes. "Why would I wait when you're not giving me anything I need?"

"They call him Shadow," Kent cries out, huffing when Jericho steps back, holding up two ears.

I wonder if he can still hear well. Oh, but what a nice prize to bring back and show my girl. I know she'll appreciate them. Body parts are always a nice present to give to wives.

"You think Kitten would appreciate some ears?" I ask, snatching the ears away from Jericho with a grin. "Imagine the look on her face when I give these to her."

‘Again, she's not going to appreciate body parts. Women want flowers, chocolate, and diamonds. Not hearts and ears,’ Shepp signs with a huff like this is common knowledge. I'd give her teeth, fingers, hearts, or anything she wanted to prove just how obsessed I am with her.

"Says you. You're the romantic, and I'm..."

‘The maniac,’ Shepp retorts rudely, batting the ears out of my hands and making me pout.

"I was going to put those in my special juice and save them forever to remember the day we became men and finally get to claim Kitten as our own."

"Tip-toeing around that," Jericho huffs, crossing his arms over his chest. "Shadow, huh?" Jericho asks, raising a brow when Kent nods with a pained expression. I guess he can hear without his ears. Whatever. Crouching down, I pick them up again and shove them in my pocket. I’ll just save these for later.

Shepp clinks his rings together again, getting Jer's attention. ‘Isn't he from down south? Haven't we heard of a different Shadow before?’

"Sounds familiar," I say, tapping my chin and then grin. “Oh, he’s the prick who sent that bomb for us! That was so exciting.”

"He from Greenwood?" Jer asks, cocking his head to the side.

"A long time ago," Kent wheezes. "This is someone new, carrying on the legacy someone killed off. Someone in the city," he says as a smile crosses his face while he pales more from the blood loss. "Hell, you know him well. But then again, not at all. He started this war long before you knew what was happening right under your noses. This is a battle you won't win. A foe you won't even see." He chuckles at that, throwing his head back with a manic laugh, filling the space.
