“So, the spawn of Satan reneged his deal with Journey's mom?” Arrow surmises, rubbing his chin.

“That I can't tell. Was Journey truly ever on the line for me like he said?” Jericho's gaze finds Shepp’s and Arrow’s.

“What are you thinking?” Arrow asks, narrowing his eyes.

“I have many thoughts,” Jericho says.

“Well that's helpful,” I grumble.

“Hmm. I'm always helpful, Little Chaos. But don't worry. Chloe Satin will not go anywhere near us.”

“I can use my grenade launcher,” Arrow quips with a grin. “Right up her ass. She'd blow to smithereens.” His hands rub together.

“As much as it pains me to say, no blowing her up right now. We need to figure out what's up my father's sleeve before we act. But we should unanimously conclude that Journey's safety is of the utmost importance.”

“And our baby,” Arrow hums, rubbing his hand over my stomach again, lingering over my uterus.

My heart thumps when he leaves it resting there, and panic swarms through me. Crap. Now, I’m going to be paranoid that there’s something growing inside me. A little human I have to protect with my damn life. But how? How could I do that when I can’t even protect myself?

“I'm going to chop his hand off. Is that acceptable?” I hiss, shoving him away again as he chuckles.

“Be my guest, he deserves it,” Jericho says, clenching his jaw. His eyes lock on something in front of him. “Wonderful. Monster on the prowl,” he mutters, discreetly gesturing toward the man we've all been avoiding sauntering our way with intention in his eyes.

“Looks like he's got something sneaky up his sleeve,” Arrow hums, throwing his arm over my shoulders. “Chin up, Kitten.”

My heart flutters in my chest when my eyes connect with Gabriel’s. They seem to darken when he takes me in, but no other emotions rest on his stone face. Evil rests there. Something sinister peering back under the facade of a normal man.

Arrow taps my chin, forcing me to raise it.

“Such a good kitten,” he mutters.

I side-eye him, sticking out my tongue playfully, hoping to dispel the nervousness swallowing me whole.

Shepp gently rests a hand on my shoulder and leans in, nuzzling his nose against my neck. If he could speak in front of his friends, he'd tell me I'm going to be fine. Hopefully, at least. I’m ten seconds away from coming face-to-face with my worst enemy.

I lay my hand on his, gently squeezing his hand.

“Father,” Jericho says in a low voice. His body seems to grow three times as big when he faces off with him. “To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?” He speaks with authority, not backing down when Gabriel raises a dark brow and his smile grows.

“Can't a father come say hello to his boys? And to you, Miss West,” he hums, forcefully taking my hand and roughly shaking it. His fingers squeeze mine but a false, warm smile crosses his lips.

Who is he fooling? Definitely not me.

“Mr. Viotto,” I say sweetly, holding back the venom. “Wonderful to meet you after all this time.”

His eyes sparkle with mirth. “Likewise. I hope my son and his friends have been treating you well.”

“Of course,” I say with a practiced smile.

Jericho stiffens beside me but doesn't utter a word or make a move when Gabriel brings the back of my hand to his lips and gently kisses it. I swear my skin crawls the moment he touches me and then again when he kisses my fucking flesh. I want to yank my hand away, but I know I have to play his game. I’m still his little snake, after all. And this entire interaction is a test to us.

“Are you boys enjoying your celebration? It's all for you.” He grins, eyeing the three boys and inspecting their expressions once he lets go of my hand and it falls to my side.

He’s challenging them to see what they’ll say and do. Normally, I’d believe in all three of their control. Knowing they’d never slip up in front of Gabriel or show their true selves. But Arrow is sinking fast into the depths of his darkness.

“Well, I hope you boys are enjoying it. I brought in the best caterers a man could ask for and the best booze money could buy. All for the best for my boys, right?”

"Yes, Father," Jericho says with a tight nod. "It's massive."
