Even if I failed my mission. Even if I failed my sister and got her off the list, I’ll fix it all. I’ll get her back on there.

Fuck, I need my masked men to come back into my life and steal me away for good. How I long to be the princess with a white knight, or three, taking me from this hell. Me and Sunshine.

But that will never happen. They were strangers with masks. Men I'll never have the pleasure of seeing again. Even if I did, I wouldn't have a clue. The only thing I saw in the dim moonlight was their eyes before they blindfolded me, blocking out my vision. And then, their fingertips did the talking.

I shake off my morbid thoughts, trying to focus on the present. Not the masked men. I fumble with my shot glass, trying to find something to do with my hands as Jenni and Elias continue their conversation.

“So, you’ll stay the night?” Jenni breathes, folding her hands together when he finds her waist and pulls her in.

“As long as your big, bad daddy ain’t here. I’m here. Me and the boys.” He nods to the other two silent men standing behind him with smiles on their faces. I swear Jenni’s face turns three shades darker, and she nods.

Interesting. There’s a story there.

“He’s gone all weekend on business. Now, how about some shots!” she shouts, scooting out of his grip, and pours the liquor into five shot glasses. “Cheers!” she shouts before downing her drink, and I do, too.

“Fuck. Worse than tequila, you bitch,” I hiss, sputtering on the gasoline she handed me.

I didn't think it could get worse, but that shit is way more potent than what she handed me before. Way higher alcohol proof, too, just from taste alone.

Her twinkling laugh spears right through me when she gently pats my back. “Yup!” she squeals, popping the P. “But it made you feel good, didn’t it, bestie?”

“Yup!” I grin, wiggling my brows at her while we laugh together.

I’m going to enjoy these moments while I have them. Before my monster takes them from me. He'll ruin their lives. Like he's ruined mine.

At the moment we each finish our shots, something in the atmosphere changes. The music softens to almost nothing, and murmurs rise into the air. The hair on my arms stands on end like electricity is trickling through the room.

Then, I find the reason why.

Them.

The Devils all standing side-by-side, standing in the foyer. They’re tall, dark, and so fucking handsome. Albeit, untouchable in many regards. They’re something every woman in the room wants but is too afraid to throw themselves at, because they know the outcome. The three of them don’t socialize with the likes of us. Let alone fuck any girls from high school. They never have, no matter how much the girls try. They’ve never seemed to have an eye for anyone. Well, except me as a kid. I remember when I punched a boy and how proud Jericho seemed to be. He even claimed I was theirs. But after that, it all fizzled away, and we never spoke again.

Well, until that night at their club when they got me off and shoved their cum inside me.

“And there’s my meeting,” Elias says, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.

“With them?” Jenni asks with her mouth agape. “I...”

“Remember our deal,” he says, cocking his head. No emotions rest on his face like he’s mastered his feelings for years. But of course he has; he is the most notorious gang leader around.

The leader of the Blue Spider Gang. They run the south side of things, just over the bridge and outside of Briar Cove. It's their territory and domain, given to them by Gabriel Viotto—Jericho’s father. They struck a deal a few years ago, allowing the gang to get this close to his operations. With rules, of course. What those are, I have no idea. I’ve snooped enough to know the basics. They stick to their side of things and Gabriel will allow them to stay there. Doesn’t seem like Elias is sticking to his deal, though, considering the deal he made with Mr. Thomas this past week.

“I know. But them? The Devils?” Her eyes turn to them with concern when they spot all of us standing at the island.

They freeze, locking eyes with me. All three of them. The mafia heir, his silent partner Shepp, and Arrow, who always seems to be up to something.

I swear their eyes eat me alive and swallow me whole. My stomach drops. Adrenaline pours through my veins. I'm fucking alive under their gaze. I don’t dare move or make a peep. I'm the prey. They're the predators with sharp teeth. Every hair on the back of my neck and arms stands on end in their presence.

They're bigger than life.

Jericho raises a dark brow when his eyes run the length of my body, reminding me of the night at their club with his disapproving look. His chiseled face tightens when he appraises my dress. I swear to God his dark eyes turn completely black under the soft lights of the party, and a sneer pulls at his lips.

Rude. I look fine as hell in my little blue dress that barely covers my ass. He snarls, turning to Shepp, who signs something with his massive hands. I swear that man is as tall as a building, and as thick, too. Rumor has it, he's at least six foot six inches, and he hasn't spoken a word since he was ten. And Arrow, the blond Viking giant who grins in my direction. His eyes slide up and down my body with interest, approving of the dress fit around my body. A dress I carefully picked out to help me blend in with my peers.

"You might be drooling," Jenni says, elbowing me with a grin.

I frown. Shit. I lost myself in their presence instead of staying aware of my surroundings. Something I have a hard time doing these days. Dissociating from my existence has become the new norm. Books. Movies. Fantasies and new worlds within my own mind. Anything to take my mind off my shitty life.
