It’s magnificent and beautiful, just like her.

“This is stunning,” I whisper, continuing to admire it.

“It’s a reminder, to stop thinking about the past and worrying about the future,” she says. “I want to live in the moment.”

I stand there speechless and dumbfounded as she turns to face me.

She smiles, snaking her arms around my neck. “Now, ask me why I got a tattoo today.”

“Okay,” I say, pressing my body into hers, a lustful need now dulling my other senses. “Why did you get the tattoo?”

“Because I’m ready to face my fears—mostly because of you, and for you. I’m so sorry for letting them get the better of me the other night. And really, this whole time. But I want to live in the moment with you. You’re worth the risk. I love you, Brenden.”

Hearing her say those words feels better than I ever imagined, every part of me buzzing from the endorphin high. “Say it again,” I plead.

Her soft eyes twinkle, the corners of her mouth twitching into a smile. “I love you, Brenden.”

“I love you, too. So fucking much.”
