“Ugh. Don’t remind me. Family court can’t fit us in until after the holidays. There’s no telling what kind of shit she’ll pull by then. I filed a restraining order against her, but you know as well as I do that it’s just a piece of paper.”

“Well, she only has a week or so left in the house. I’m sure she’ll come to the surface once the locks are changed.”

“I don’t doubt it.”

“Back to you and Kierra; let me know when you need us to take the kids so you can take her on a date. You’re looking like an asshole, Jon.”

My brows jumped. “What do you mean?”

“Besides Kierra’s salary, have you bought something nice and shiny for your woman? When are you going to take her on a date? That woman wined and dined the panties right off of you.”

I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. “How do you know that?”

“Jonathan, I caught you red-handed with a handful of morning-after pills a few weeks ago, and you stayed overnight in a penthouse suite. Somebody was getting fucked, and if I had to guess, it was you.”

“It was definitely me,” I confirmed with a nod. “But to answer your question, I did make a trip to the jewelry store the other day. I picked up something for Kierra, Kiyah, and Daisy—I didn’t want to leave the girls out.”

“Understandable. Was it a ring?”

“The urge was there—trust me. I stood in front of the ring case so long that I started to alarm the owner.”

“Thought you were casing the joint, huh?” Anthony teased.

“Something like that. But it’s too soon. She’s still grieving; I’m still dealing with Eliza, and I’ve neglected to speak with my children about my relationship with their nanny. A lot must be squared away before we take that step.”

“Good man.”

“I try to be,” I answered. “By the way, you guys are invited to our house for Thanksgiving.”

“We appreciate it, Jon. We’ll be there. What are you guys doing for Christmas?”

“Kierra invited us to go to Colorado to meet her family. I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t been on a vacation in forever.”

“I’m looking forward to it, too. Nori will love the snow,” he remarked before leaving the garage.

I blinked rapidly as Anthony’s words settled in.

He didn’t think that was an invite…did he?

“Simone! We’re going to Colorado for Christmas!” Anthony announced loudly.

I left the garage and found Counterfeit Kierra and Morticia animatedly discussing the Christmas trip that gained three and a half passengers. I wrapped my arm around Kierra’s waist and whispered,” I didnotinvite them.”

“It’s okay, darling. As they say, the more, the merrier.”

I leaned in to kiss her when I was interrupted by Kiyah. “Ew, you kiss my Mommy a lot…a lot.”

My cheeks turned crimson as the adults laughed at Kiyah’s astute observation.

I need to get the heat off of me….

“Who’s ready to go trick-or-treating?”

Chapter Thirty-Five

Kierra

I groaned when I felt myself being shaken awake, but the groaning ceased when soft lips grazed mine. Naturally, my fingers grasped the back of his neck possessively. That was just the type of woman I was, and Jonathan didn’t seem to mind. I leaned into the kiss, prepared to roll on top of him, when I realized I was restrained. My eyes flew open, and several seconds of confusion passed.
