It’s not the first time he’s called me that, but it feels like the first time all over again. My heart explodes within my chest, and my balls are drawing up, tingling. I’m not going to last much longer this way.

“Cole - I… I…”

“Come for me, beautiful,” he whispers as he drags his tongue over my skin, licking my pulse. He barely gets the words out before my release is spraying between us, coating both of our stomachs in thick ropes of cum.

A string of incoherent words falls from my mouth as Cole moans in my ear, “I’m coming.”

He releases deep inside of me, and I find myself utterly lost in ecstasy. I’m on a high unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I’m walking on air and I want to stay up here in the clouds forever.

Our movements both slow, and Cole collapses onto my chest, burrowing his face into my neck, “That was -”

“Amazing,” I breathe.

“Mmmm.”

“Cole?” my heart pauses in my chest.

“Yeah?” he sighs.

“I fucking love you Cole.”

I can feel it as his lips curve into a smile against my skin, “I love you, Z. Promise me something?”

“Anything,” I answer, resting my cheek against his head, as we lie together, entirely spent.

“Never let me forget to keep breathing.”

“I promise.”

And for the first time in longer than I can remember, I make a promise that I know I can keep.

Chapter forty-six

Riot

Travis called me into his office today, and I’m silently cursing him beneath my breath as I slip into the elevator. The last thing I want right now is to be away from Cole and Zeke for even a moment, but there are certain expectations that come along with living this life, and when the boss calls, you don’t say no.

After everything that happened, I can’t help but to wonder if there really could be a life beyond the Brotherhood for me. Not that I’d ever in a million years choose to leave this family that we’ve all built, but none of this was something I ever wanted. Shit, it wasn’t even something that Travis wanted. Each of us were thrust into this world because of the generations that came before us. I have to wonder if any of us could ever have a life outside of all this.

The elevator hits Travis’ floor, dinging as the doors part, and I step across the threshold onto the pristine marble floors. Making my way down the hall, I stop when I reach Travis’ office, knocking before entering.

“Come in.”

Swinging the door open, I’m surprised when I find both Travis and Spencer sitting on the couch in his office.

“Hey,” I nod as I round the chair across from them and take a seat. “So what was so urgent?”

They look at each other, smiling as they exchange glances before turning back to me, and it has me wondering what the hell I’m walking into.

“Well,” Travis starts. “I… We have some news.”

“Okayyyy,” I draw out my response, more confused than ever.

“Just tell him,” Spencer nudges him with her elbow, while rolling her eyes.

“Tell me what?”

“I’ve been talking with Spencer a lot about the business. Especially after the things you said about me.”
