“Nothing,” Skylar waved her off and motioned her into the bus.

Riley walked into the bus that was bigger and nicer than theirs. It had the same amenities—a couch, a table, kitchen area, bathroom, and private bedroom. Skylar sat down on the sofa as Riley sat beside her. They each turned to face each other and Riley pulled her feet under her.

“What’s on your mind?”

She sighed dramatically. “Harlow.”

“Oh, thank god you’re finally talking about it.”

“Wait,” Riley shook her head, unsure she’d heard Skylar correctly. “What do you mean by that?”

“Riley, come on.” Skylar chuckled. “It’s obvious.”

“What’s obvious?”

“That you and Harlow like each other.” Smirking, Skylar didn’t wait for Riley to continue. Not that she could; she was speechless. “Don’t give me that look. You two are about as obvious with it as me and…”

Skylar’s voice trailed off as she pursed her lips closed. But that couldn’t stop the smile from starting to spread again. She didn’t have to elaborate. Riley had seen how Skylar and Elena acted around each other the last few weeks. Although Riley had always had suspicions about them before the band’s breakup, she’d never voiced those thoughts to Skylar.

Until now.

“As you and Elena?”

Skylar giggled in response. “Don’t tell anyone, please. We don’t want it to get out right now because we think it’ll overshadow the tour.”

“Your secret is safe with me. And I must admit that I’ve seen a lot of Skylena comments on social media recently. Someone even compares you two to Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks during their reunion tour in the late nineties. And I gotta say, I’ve noticed the chemistry, too.”

“Well, I don’t think we’ve reached Buckingham/Nicks status, but things are definitely heating up between us.” Skylar shook her head. “But you didn’t come here to hear me ramble about Elena. Tell me about Harlow.”

“I don’t know,” Riley sighed. “I like her.”

“I know.”

“And at times I think she likes me. But she’s so hard to read. She always keeps to herself and never picks up on my hints that I want to date her.”

“Have you come out and just asked her on a date?”

“Well, no,” she admitted sheepishly. “I just thought if she were interested, she’d say so, you know?”

Skylar thought for a moment before responding. “I don’t know Harlow well anymore, but once upon a time I was around her for months on end when we were on tour. Back then, she was the same as she is now: quiet and reserved. I don’t remember her dating anyone back then, but I could have just not known about it.”

“Yeah, she could be a part of the CIA for all I know. She’s the most private person I’ve met.”

“Well, then there’s only one thing you can do.”

“Don’t.” She held up a hand to stop her. “I know what you’re going to say because my mother has been telling me for weeks that I need to just ask her out on a date.”

“Or,” there was a twinkle in Skylar’s eyes, “you could invite her to the Cove next week. You’re going home, right?”

Riley nodded.

“So, ask Harlow to go with you. I heard her talking to Elena the other day and she doesn’t have plans for our week off. You know how magical the Cove can be; maybe that’s just the place you two need to get away and figure out your feelings for each other.”

“You know, you might have a point there.”

“I know I do,” Skylar laughed. “It would be good for both of you to get away from the tour for the week and get to know each other outside of work. I know this tour has been a lot of fun for you, but Harlow sees it at work still. Maybe that’s why she hasn’t made a move or responded to your moves.”

“So, you don’t think it has anything to do with the fact that Harlow might be straight?”
