Stopping in her tracks, Harlow pulled Riley’s arm as she turned around to face her.

“Have I said how much I missed you?”

“You might have mentioned it. But you can tell me again if you want.”

“Come here.”

Pulling Riley into her arms, Harlow slowly slipped her hands down Riley’s back and into the pockets of her jeans. Riley wasted no time using the opportunity their close proximity brought and kissed her. She hadn’t realized how much she’d missed Harlow’s lips on hers until that moment. Because if it were up to Riley, they would have never stopped kissing.

However, she needed to clarify something first.”

“So, wait,” Riley looked into Harlow’s eyes, “does this mean you’re moving here? To the Cove?”

Harlow was absolutely beaming as she nodded, “I am. I don’t know when, but I hope it’s sooner rather than later. I don’t want to spend another day away from you.”

“I feel exactly the same.”

“Good.” Harlow grinned, tucking Riley’s hair behind her ear. “It would make things super awkward if you didn’t want me here.”

“I want you here with me forever. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the Cove or Antarctica, I just want to always stay in your arms.”

“That might complicate things, but I’m sure we can manage,” Harlow laughed and kissed Riley again.

But when she pulled away this time, Riley noticed something different in her eyes. She was nervous, and it suddenly worried Riley. Before she could ask what was on her mind, Harlow told her.

“I love you, Riley.” She breathed a sigh of relief as she kept talking. “I wanted to tell you weeks ago, and I think I might have said it as I was falling asleep. But I want—no, I need you to know that I mean it. I’ve never felt this way with anyone before. You’re different, in a good way, and I can’t wait to see what this next journey holds for us.”

“I can’t wait either. It’s going to be great.” Riley kissed her once more, unable to control herself. “And I have a confession.”

Harlow cocked her head. “What’s that?”

“I heard you say I love you that night in the hotel. I said it back, but you were already asleep.”

Harlow rapidly blinked a few times, looking almost confused by Riley’s confession.

“Wait,” she nervously laughed as her voice dropped to barely a whisper, “you love me?”

Riley nodded. “I love you, Harlow.”

Unable to contain her happiness, Riley threw her arms around Harlow’s neck and kissed her again. She didn’t care that they probably looked like lovesick dorks to the people who passed them on the street. All that mattered was Harlow loved her and she loved Harlow and that soon, they would be in the same place again.

“Come on.” Riley took Harlow’s hand and pulled her down the street.

“Where are we going?”

“To get ice cream.”

“You say that like I should just know that’s where we’re going.” Harlow laughed behind her. “I don’t know this town well enough yet.”

“That will all change soon. But until then, I’ll be your personal tour guide for all things Moonflower Cove. Like Tour Guide Barbie, but way better.”

“I can’t wait.”

Harlow kissed her again as they waited to cross the street toward the ice cream shop. In her wildest dreams, she hadn’t imagined Harlow showing up in the Cove out of the blue to surprise her. Throw in the fact that Harlow was moving to the Cove, and Riley was sure she could float the rest of the way to the ice cream parlor.

“I love you, Harlow.”

“I love you too, Rye.”
