Ivetha smiled.“Do you want me to refit your clothing quickly?”

“Sure.Please.”

Five minutes oftying and fluffing later, Sariah grinned at herself in the mirror.“Can you help me with this while you are here?”

“Sure. When isthe wedding set for?”

“Day aftertomorrow. Tomorrow is for bride and groom stuff. Akio will hang outwith Arata, and I will hang out with you. We will go to the baths, relax. Have something to eat, and then go to the village where theladies will share information with me that they feel I shouldknow.”

Ivetha nodded.“Right. Let’s go to the village while I still have enough energy. When I crash, I crash hard.”

“And the kinghas been catching you?”

“Yup, so let’sgo.”

Sariah laughed, and they headed out of the palace. The bright sun and cool breezemade Ivetha smile. It was very nice. “You are going to have a nicelife here.”

“I think so.You are going back to work at Z Corp?”

“Yeah. It’sgoing to be a relief to get back to programming and running errorchecks.”

“You don’t likethe attention?”

“It is alittle... different now. Before we were under contractrestrictions, and now, he knows a bit more about me. I want out ofhere before he gets attached.”

“Don’t you meanbefore you get attached?”

They saunteredinto the village. Ivetha shrugged. “No.”

Locals werelooking at them as they walked. Kids were sprinting around, andIvetha smiled. “Cute.”

One of thelittle boys sprinted between them, and she laughed.

Sariahchuckled. “The island is growing its population. The families heretend to be on the larger side.”

“Ah. Of course. So, where are we going?”

Sariah grinnedand led her past a series of open shops with a variety of goodsuntil they found a shop with fabric fluttering and a stack of boltsin the back of the shop. There were three women in the shop whopaused when Sariah entered.

“Ah, MissSariah, our clothing certainly suits you. Akio showed you how towear the clothing properly, I see.”

Sariah walkedoff and talked to the shop owner.

Ivetha stoodand listened to the women laughing in Ekovarian. They were callingIvetha a tramp for daring to wear their traditional clothing butwere genuinely happy that Akio found Sariah. The royal familyneeded some heirs. It was a shame that her sister was obviously toodumb to wear clothing at her station.

Ivetha murmuredin Ekovarian, “You may want to keep your opinions toyourself.”

The women andshopkeeper gasped, and the gossips made a run for it. Ivetha smiledand continued, “Well, that was fun. I usually have to raise myvoice to make people run.”

Sariah asked,“Ivy, what did you say?”

“Oh, I justtold them to keep their opinions to themselves. Arata taught me todress this way, so I am guessing it is appropriate.” She smiledbrightly. She was losing energy fast, but she was keeping upappearances.

She walked tothe wall of fabrics and chose a plain moss green. “This for thecasual clothing.” She walked over to the fancier clothing andasked, “Sariah, what did you get for your wedding?”

Her sistershowed her the deep emerald.

“Okay. Iwill get this one.” She lifted the edge of the lemon-limecolour. It would look horrible on her. Perfect for a bridesmaid. She spoke in Ekovarian.
