She’d invited us into her nest, her den, one of the most intimate ways an omega wolf can show her affection.

It meant inviting us into her life and her heart.

We would never say no.

A small whimper came from her mouth as she moved to face me. I opened my eyes to find Fitz on the other side. Her mewl was one of contentment, making my wolf preen in satisfaction.

I noticed the sun was up and, after checking my phone, saw that it was past seven. “Haven, sweetheart?” I whispered, nuzzling her neck with my nose.

“Hmm,” she mumbled something unintelligible. Then her eyes flew open. “What time is it?”

I showed her my screen.

“I left mine downstairs. I’m late.” She scrambled up, but Fitz grabbed her back down and cuddled her, making her laugh.

“I’ll get the phone. You two soak up what you can of this morning.” I ran downstairs and brought it back. When I returned, she and Fitz were face-to-face, his hand splayed over her perfect ass. “Here, Haven. You have thirty-five missed calls.”

“I do?” She sat straight up, making Fitz grumble.

“No. I’m just kidding. I didn’t even check.”

She got up on her knees and pressed some buttons, reaching for me with her free hand. I sat down and pulled her into my lap, wrapping my arms around her waist. She craved touch. My sweet, brilliant mate was touch-starved. Yeah, we would fix that. “Hey, Tilly. I’m late. I just woke up. I know we have the…huh? Again?”

She listened for a long time, laying her head on my shoulder. I caught some of the conversation from Tilly but not a lot. I tried not to intrude.

“Send me all the links. Yes, of course I have my laptop.” She paused for some more instructions. “Noon? You’re kidding me.” She ended the call and then tossed the phone across the mattress. “I have the morning off, thanks to my best friend.”

“I’ll have to send her flowers.” I ran my hand down her thigh. “How did you sleep?”

She wrapped her arms around me and snuggled in closer. “I swear that was the best sleep I’ve ever had.”

“How about we take you to breakfast?” I asked. “Since you have the morning off?”

“That sounds amazing but someone is still sleeping.” She turned to laugh at Fitz. He wasn’t sleeping. He was pretending to give us some time. “Maybe I can wake him up.” She crawled over and lay behind him, whispering something in his ear.

She yelped as Fitz pounced and had her on her back in seconds. “I wasn’t asleep, Haven. And yes, I would love to take you to breakfast. But I need a shower.” Without warning, he leaned down and pecked her on the lips. “Was that okay?”

“Yeah. That was okay. Can I ask a question?”

“Of course,” I answered.

“Can you leave your shirts here? I like your scents here—in my den.”

“No problem.” Fitz winked and moved off of her and removed his shirt and left it there. I did the same.

Eventually, this den would be filled with our intermingled scents. And our mate would be filled with ours.

We parted ways to shower and get dressed and met at the bottom of the stairs. There was a diner where she wanted to go but never had the time, so we headed there and found a corner booth.

We ordered one of everything on the breakfast menu. Our thighs were all pressed together and she’d allowed us to feed her a few bites here and there. Our eyes met as her mouth opened for a bite of blueberry pancake, and I couldn’t help but wonder what her beautiful mouth would look like in the throes of passion. Or with my cock filling it.

Fitz began talking to her about books that he’d downloaded. Her hand landed on my upper thigh underneath the table and I covered it with mine, bringing it higher.

She didn’t stop me.

She was our mate and I wanted to prove that to her.

While they talked about books, my gaze wandered outside. I saw a woman with deep-brown hair and I sucked in a breath. She was so similar to Sela. When she turned to cross the street, I saw how different her face was but, as it always did, the guilt sucker punched me. I’d loved Sela. She was our mate. And here I had my hand on another. Soaked in another’s scent. Nested with another.
