He knew, didn’t he? He’d known I’d call and he wanted to know who.

He never looked away, just searched my eyes with a dangerous, manic stare as London’s growl filled my ears.

“Tell me right now and we’re coming to get you. We’re done with this. Do you hear me, Helene? We’re done. Tell me where you are and you’re coming home.”

The mountain flicked his focus from one of my eyes to the other. Then he slowly lifted his hand.

My stomach dropped. It was more than being ambushed by my sister’s lover. It was guilt at being caught by the man who’d risked his life to save me.

His fingers were open, waiting, instantly returning me to the back of that truck. The one where he demanded my trust…now it was my turn to trust his. I reached out and handed the cell to him.

“Helene?” London’s deep bark echoed again. “I will fucking destroy them if they have you prisoner, do you hear me? Tell me where you are and me and the Sons?—”

“Deep Valley Road. Six-point-nine clicks from the turn off to High Valley Mountain. We’ll be waiting.”

He spoke quietly, distinctly…then hung up the call.

I couldn’t move.

“I’ve made you breakfast,” he said carefully. “But you might want to shower before your family gets here.”

With that, he just turned around and walked silently out of the room.

I unleashed a moan as I caught the stairs creaking under his weight and kicked off the blankets. Of course he knew…he was a ghost, wasn’t he?

I pushed out of the bed and headed for the bathroom, trying to mentally prepare for the onslaught that was my family. Thank God Riven and the others weren’t here.

The thought of London, the Sons, and my sister being in the same place as the men they loathed made me tremble with dread. It would be all-out fucking war. Even with just Hunter, it was bound to get bloody.

I stepped into the bathroom and closed the door.

Steam still lingered in the air. The mirror was still cloudy. One swipe of my hand and I stared at the deep purple bruising on the side of my mouth, and on my neck…a remnant of that bastard in the back of the truck.

There was no hiding what had happened.

I shifted my gaze to the unhinged, panicked look in my eye.

Not from Vivienne.

She’d know instantly.

“Fuck,” I whispered. “This is going to be bad.”

SEVEN

Riven

I stepped closer. “Did you hear me? I said, take me?—”

“I heard you,” the big, bearded motherfucker cut me off.

Coulter’s guard rolled around on the floor, gripping his foot and still screaming like a banshee. I ignored him, fixing my focus on the only person who could get me what I wanted.

Helene.

Thomas stepped forward, his eyes panicked and desperate as he looked from me to Hunter’s man. Kane was there, pale and drawn. Still, he forced himself from that bed for one reason and one reason alone…Helene.

“Well?”
