Riven

I watched my brother lower his head as he sucked in hard breaths. His hand was spread wide across the small of her back, then moved possessively over her ass. A twitch came at the sight, pulsing at the corner of my goddamn eye. I clenched my jaw as he withdrew his massive cock and turned that hateful fucking stare to me.

Jesus…what the fuck happened to you?

“Hold onto me.” He reached out, taking hold of her hand, never once taking his eyes from mine. “I told you I’d give you anything you needed.”

Twitch.

Motherfucker.

My lips curled as I took a step forward.

“Riven.” Kane stepped in between us. “Maybe we need to look at making a plan for tomorrow?”

I jerked my focus to him. He was always there, always stepping in between us. I caught the smirk from Hunter in the corner of my eye. But it was Helene I focused on as she grasped his hand and slowly rose. Bruises, scars…and under that, a look of worry.

“Brother,” Kane murmured so quietly I could barely hear him.

But I did.

My lips curled as I stepped closer and brushed the hair from her face. “You wash up, Trouble, and I’ll make you some delicious vegan pancakes, how does that sound?”

“Vegan?” Hunter muttered and jerked a confused stare to her.

Now it was my turn to smirk. “Yes, brother.” I shot him a glare. “Looks like you don’t know everything.”

“Jesus.” Kane shook his head.

“Boys,” Helene snapped.

I jerked my stare to her, as did the others.

“Is this how it’s going to be?” she asked each of us.

Hunter said nothing. Kane glared at me. It was Thomas that strode forward. “I guess that’s a yes,” he muttered and left.

I watched him as he limped out of the living room, heading to the front door. Helene watched him go. He didn’t like her, not in the ways we did. Maybe somehow he still blamed her for what had happened to him.

But we do terrible things for the people we love.

The only thing to do now was to live with the consequences.

I gave her a smile, ruffling her hair. “He’ll come around.”

“Will he?” she asked, staring after him.

“I’ll find you more clothes,” Hunter offered. “Hopefully, this time they won’t get ripped.”

“If they smell like you, it’ll be a given,” I growled.

“Honestly.” Helene shook her head, bent, and snatched her clothes from the floor before heading for the stairs. “I’ll find my own damn clothes…and I’ll cook my own pancakes, as well!”

I winced at her pissed off tone, watching her leave.

“Nice one, asshole,” Hunter muttered and turned, yanking up the zipper of his pants.

“Wait a minute here…I’m the asshole?” He left without answering. I clenched my jaw. “Don’t say it…” I warned, watching Kane’s lips part. “Don’t say a goddamn thing.”
