“No.” I jerked, pulling on the unforgiving shackles around my wrists “No.”

He moved closer, reaching out to stab that thing into my side. I bucked, screaming as he drove that thing into my side until it felt like it was inside me, twisting and pulling. My head went backwards, the roar burning like fire.

“That’s it! THAT’S IT! DANCE, MOTHERFUCKER…DANCE!”

I screamed until the room around me darkened, until there was no air left in my world…and the emptiness finally claimed me.

Slow.

Draining breaths found me, dragging me from the bleak oblivion.

“There he is.”

A whimper ripped free with the sound of his voice. No…no more…

I was done.

I was so fucking done.

“Kill…me.” The words came out an undistinguished mumble.

“What was that?” He growled.

A tremor roared all around us, shaking everything as the vibrations tore through the chains and into my arms until the ceiling gave way.

My arms dropped, letting me crash to the floor. Heavy stones hit me, slamming against my body, until one cracked my head.

Bright white sparks detonated behind my eyes.

“Jesus fucking Christ!” My tormentor roared.

I just lay there, unable to protect myself.

Slam!

Slam…

SLAM!

Each falling chunk of stone was like a fist battering my cheeks, my head, my body. Agony radiated, tearing through my eye. Warmth pooled in the corner before it ran down my nose.

“What…the…fuck?”

I thought it was Riven who spoke…but it couldn’t be…because I was in Hell. I cracked open one eye…seeing the blur of darkness as he lunged across the room to land on the back of my tormentor.

Fists.

Rage…

Destruction.

That’s what he was…pure destruction.

I forced my eyes open to find Riven with his arm around the bastard’s neck…others rushed in. Soft hands, smooth…cradling. Her face swam, then sharpened as she moved into view.

“Hunter?” The angel spoke. “Hunter, can you hear me?”

But I couldn’t answer. All I could do was lie there and watch my brother trying to kill the man who’d tortured me. Riven’s dark eyes were black in the gloom. He looked like a demon. A vengeful, bestial demon.
