“Move!” Kane hissed, driving all of us into that dark cell.

I didn’t have time to argue, just stumbled as I was jostled forward and, in an instant, I was surrounded by the heat of four warm bodies. Heavy breaths blew against me, scattering my hair as I was pressed against the wall of the cell just inside the doorway.

The faint sound of footsteps echoed as the rumble of the collapsing tunnel died away. Voices followed. But I couldn’t hear them, wedged between Thomas, Kane, and Hunter with Riven in front, facing the doorway.

I slowly lifted my gaze, finding the glint of their eyes.

My heart boomed. Warmth radiated between us.

Still, the faint bark of commands slipped into the cell. Only at that moment, I didn’t care. Hunter reached up slowly, his curled fingers trembling as he brushed the strands of my hair from my face. Thomas’s fingers dragged along my arm, then my neck before he reached around, cupping the base of my neck with his strong hand.

Even in the midst of utter destruction, we clung to the only glimmer of goodness we had…and that was each other. Thomas’s hand tightened around my neck as Hunter curled his massive body, leaning on me. It was so natural to tilt my mouth toward him. For a blinding second, the horror could wait.

Warm, heavy breaths filled my ears, resounding all around me. I closed my eyes, comforted by the warmth of them as I waited for the moment our lips touched.

The kiss was soft, barely a brush, but the effect was instant, rippling through my body. I remembered his touch and his kindness. The way he’d defended me to his own kin. I opened my mouth for him, stoking our hunger.

“Jesus.” Thomas murmured, his hold tightening around my neck.

I knew what he wanted, so I slowly pulled away and turned my head.

Thomas leaned closer, taking my mouth harder. His hard chest pressed against mine, pushing me against the stone.

“Fuck’s sake.” Riven snapped. “Can’t you restrain yourselves for a goddamn second around her? You’re fucking distracting me and I’m trying to listen.”

Thomas pulled away, his honey brown eyes shimmering in the gloom before he turned away. Even though this wasn’t the right time, we still needed it. A new surge of hope filled me.

“Server—” I caught the word.

Server? I gently pushed Thomas aside and stepped out from around them. What server?

All of us took a step closer to the doorway.

Another rumble shook the tunnel around us. It was barely a tremor, still it panicked the guards out there rushing past.

“We better not be fucking buried alive in this goddamn place.”

“If we aren’t, we’re taking his precious servers.”

“Damn right we are. Fuck him and his precious blackmailing files. Ain’t nothing on those things that’s worth killing ourselves over.”

“Shut it.” Another snapped. “Or it won’t be the goddamn roof falling in that you’ll need to worry about.”

“Coulter must be paying you real fucking well, Conrad. Real fucking well.”

“Move it.” The guy who must be Conrad snapped.

“It’s up ahead.” Someone else called.

We moved closer to the doorway, Riven stepped to the side, straining to watch them, but the moment he turned back to us, I knew what he was thinking.

“No.” I shook my head. “Don’t look at me like that.”

He scowled. “That server could be the key to everything.” He hissed quietly. “I always knew Coulter would have access to the kind of information which could destroy all this.”

“We don’t have time.” I urged. “Every second we stand here, my sister gets further and further away. She’s the priority here.”
