Page 74 of Loving Liam

I went to the bedroom to check up on Liam and sat next to him on the bed. He was still fast asleep, looking peaceful, as he always did when he slept, as if all his worries had flown away.

I stroked his hair gently, careful not to knock the dressing on his head. The wound didn’t appear to be bleeding, so that was a good sign. The head did always bleed a lot. I knew from the many drunks we brought into the station. Lots of blood, sometimes from barely a graze.

I’d been worried sick, but didn’t you do that with the people you loved?

I shook my head. Fucking love. I wasn’t in love with him. It was concern, surely? Nothing more than that. Sam would say differently, no doubt.

Liam murmured, and I stopped stroking him, not wishing to wake him. He needed to sleep. I was drowsy too, although it was early evening. I’d not slept much last night, so that would explain it.

“Daddy, don’t hurt me.” He whimpered, and his breathing quickened. His eyes moved rapidly behind his lids. A bad dream, that was all it was, but I’d never hurt him. He had to know that.

“I won’t hurt you, sweetheart. You’re safe with me.”

“Not again. Please don’t hit me. I promise I’ll be a good boy.”

What the fuck was going on?

“Liam, you need to wake up, sweetheart. It’s me, John.”

His eyes continued to flutter, but the murmuring stopped. His breathing slowed, and the frown he’d worn disappeared, replaced by the restful look from moments before.

After I locked up downstairs, I returned to the bedroom and got in next to him.

I gathered him close and held on to him for dear life, wanting nothing more than to comfort him. Emotional and weary, I shut my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Liam’s voice woke me.

“I’m fine, Drew. There really is no need to worry. I’m not slipping back to my old ways. John is with me now. I’m happy with my life.”

That was good to hear at least, especially after what had happened last night.

“It was a one-off. You know they took my phone away. I’d had some texts they wanted to look into. There’s nothing for you to worry about.”

He hummed and hawed at whatever Drew said.

“Once my hand is better and I can hold a pair of scissors, I’ll be back.… No, I don’t know how long it’ll be. They used butterfly strips, so I wouldn’t imagine it’ll be long.”

I shifted, and he turned to me. He looked much better, and when he smiled, he looked about perfect.

I stroked his face, running my thumb along his lip. A small groan left him, and my cock twitched. I had to remind myself he was recovering, but when he ran his hand over my bare chest and squeezed my nipple, I almost lost my resolve.

“I want you.” He mouthed. I shook my head. Not today.

I hopped out of bed and adjusted myself, then walked to the bathroom. Removing myself from the situation was the best thing to do, else I’d have given in. He needed to rest and heal.

“You are a tease.” He came up behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist.

“That may be, but you still need to rest. No undue stress or excitement.”

“You’re also a spoilsport.” He took my place at the toilet as I finished.

I washed my hands and inspected my face. “I should shave.”

“Leave it. I like the scruff.”

“You do?” When had he stripped? I was sure he had done it on purpose.

“Makes you look sexy. I love a sexy Daddy.”
