“So, she took the pic and sent it to nearly everyone in her address book, with the exception, I’m assuming, of family members. I simply sent out a virus to all those addresses and deleted the pic. The strange thing was, when I hacked in to Addison’s phone, the mass text had been deleted.”

“Maybe she was just covering her tracks in case someone, like me, wanted to see her phone to see if she’d sent the texts out,” I muttered angrily.

Donovan frowned. “Maybe, but we all got texts from Addison—how does she cover that up?”

I shrugged. “Who knows? Maybe she didn’t think that far ahead?”

Donovan nodded. “Yeah, maybe. I mean, this was obviously an impulse decision.”

“Wait,” Ava chirped. “Addison isn’t in my gym class. How did she get the picture?”

“Maybe she snuck into the locker room?” Hannah suggested.

Ava looked unconvinced. “Maybe…or maybe someone else took the picture.”

We were silent for a moment, but Donovan was shaking his head. “No, this picture was taken by Addison’s phone.”

“So much for an impulse decision,” muttered Nikolai. “If she was going to sneak into the locker room during another class’s gym time, that took some planning.”

“I hate to say this, but Addison is starting to look kind of crazy,” Hannah said.

“Starting to look?” Ava retorted.

Hannah snorted. “Come on, Aves, she came off like a bitch before, but she never seemed, like, crazy obsessive.”

“Yeah, you’re right, I’m being a little unfair,” Ava grumbled. She looked so adorable pouting next to me I was unable to resist turning her head and kissing her. I stopped when a series of balled-up napkins and other debris were hurled in our direction.

“Alright, alright,” I groused, giving Ava a little squeeze.

“Hey, Ava, I saw a pretty good picture of you yesterday,” Mike Crenshaw said as he walked past our table. He was holding hands with Casey who looked at him with a mixture of aggravation and embarrassment.

I jumped up. “You need to keep moving, Crenshaw, before I plant my fist in your fucking mouth.”

“Settle down, Becker, by the looks of that picture you have nothing to be upset about. In fact, I found myself in the bathroom with my phone and–”

I walked over, swung out and dropped Mike Crenshaw with one punch. I shook my fist as pain throbbed in my knuckles, but watching blood pour out of his nose was like anesthesia.

“You want to keep talking, asshole?”

Casey looked paralyzed, staring at me as if I was a stranger. I felt a little guilty punching the shit out of her boyfriend when she was standing two feet away. “Hey, Case, are you okay?”

She shook her head and shot me a sheepish smile. “Oh, yes, I’m sorry. I’m sorry about this whole thing. Mike can be such a jackass.” She grabbed some napkins and threw them toward Mike who was groaning on the ground. “Sorry, Jack,” she said, shooting me another embarrassed smile. “I hope you guys will all still come to the party tonight.”

I’d forgotten about Casey’s party with so many other things on my plate. I just nodded. “Sure, Casey, just get him out of here.” Why was she with this asshole? She could do so much better.

“Yeah, I got him.” She turned to Mike and pulled him slowly up as he mumbled threats and profanity the entire way to the exit.

“Why is she dating him?” Hannah asked.

Ava shook her head. “I don’t know. I guess they used to date last year, so maybe she still has feelings for him?”

We all did a group shrug and moved on from Mike and Casey.

“Hey, why don’t we confront Addison at Casey’s party?” Ava suggested. “We know she’ll definitely be there.”

I nodded my head. “That’s a great idea. It would be much easier to do it there, than here or her house. And if she’s had any drinks, she might be more willing to confess what she’s been up to.”

“And why,” Hannah added.
