Two large hands take hold of my arms, keeping me steady. I look up and I’m met with two of the deepest chocolate-brown eyes gazing back at me. I could easily get lost in them.

It’s him!

“We’ve got to stop meeting like this. First the supermarket, now here.”

I’ve lost the ability to speak, being face to face with him. The man who’s filled my dreams since that day.

A throat clears behind him, and I shift to look around his body to find another man, one who’s slightly familiar. I can’t pinpoint why, though.

“Now, Donovan, are you going to introduce me to the beautiful woman?” His voice is deep and sexy. His words roll off his tongue, gliding over my skin like silk.

“I’d love to, but she never gave me her name. I’m Donovan and this is my best mate Dimitri.”

Fuck, his accent is downright sinful. I can feel my body heating up and my panties getting damp.

I hear a chuckle. “I think you broke her, Donny boy.” The familiar-looking man chuckles as he steps up beside him. “You might want to let go of her. You’re probably scaring her even more than those last assholes she was talking to.”

His eyes go wide and he releases me, but he wasn’t scaring me. It was the complete opposite, actually, and I immediately miss his touch. When he lets go, I’m able to think a little more clearly and remember that I haven’t given them my name. “Ohh, I’m Alexis. But my friends call me Alex. Yeah, they were pretty scary, but I’m sure they’re more interested in one of the other ladies here.”

“I don’t believe that.” Dimitri winks.

“Why’s that?”

“Well, you are the most beautiful woman in the room. Donovan and I were hoping to get a chance to talk to you and get to know you.”

“I’d like that. Maybe we can find a place to sit down?” I ask.

“Of course. I’ll let Donovan help you find a place, and I’ll get us some drinks. What would you like, Alex?” The more Dimitri talks, the more his voice pulls at my memory. I know I’ve seen him before, talked to him.

“Um, whiskey, please.” This night has been full of curveballs and I have a feeling I’m going to need all the stiff drinks I can get.

Dimitri takes my hand in his, kissing it before striding confidently toward the bar. Donovan clasps my hand in his and leads me over to a red velvet couch off in the corner, away from the main crowd. It’s dimly lit, the soft lighting of the club giving it a romantic feel.

“Have a seat.” He guides me to the middle of the couch, leaving room for them to take a seat on either side.

“Thank you. Weird, huh? Meeting here like this, knowing what’s going to happen tonight. That we could be with anyone in this room, maybe each other, in just a short while.” I ramble, like I always do when I’m nervous.

“Yeah, it’s definitely different. But honestly, I hope it’s you.”

I laugh nervously. “Right!” I blurt before thinking. My eyes go wide and I slam my hand over my mouth.

“Ahh, I’m wounded,” he jokes, placing his hand over his heart.

“What? It’s not like you knew I was going to be here or even wanted to see me.” I give him a smug smirk.

“Alex, seeing you here was the highlight of the night, doesnae matter whose key we pull or what happens behind closed doors. I’ve gone back to that supermarket every day since seeing you there, hoping to run into you again. I even tried different times of the day.” His hand takes hold of mine as he strokes the pad of his thumb over the top of it.

“I was embarrassed. I haven’t been back there,” I confess, gazing down at our interlocked hands as a strand of hair falls down, blocking his view of my face.

“Never be embarrassed.” He pushes the fallen strands behind my ear and places his fingers under my chin, tipping my head up so he can look me in the eye.

“A whiskey for the lady, and two Scotches for us,” Dimitri announces as he walks back over, popping the bubble we were in. He hands a glass to each of us before sitting down beside me and taking a large sip from his glass.

Lifting mine to my lips, I drink some of the malty liquid. “Whew.” I pause for a moment, as I cough up a storm. “That shit has my throat on fire.”

Fire!

Oh, my fucking god. It’s him!
