“Don’t you have something else to say?” Teagan tilted her head none too subtly in Jaxon’s direction and he suppressed the urge to roll his eyes at the ridiculousness of the situation. Brad didn’t owe him anything.

“Too right, I do,” Brad grinned over at Jaxon.

“That’s me,” Jaxon answered.

“Yeah, you are.”

“Shouldn’t you hug or something?” Shea asked, sounding very bored from her seat. “I feel like that was the most lackluster apology I’ve ever witnessed. And you know, I’ve been there for all of mine.”

“That’s just how we do things,” Brad replied. “Every row we’ve ever had. That’s how we settled it.”

“It’s true,” Dave assured them. “It’s odd, but it’s true.”

“But they didn’t even say they were sorry,” Shea protested. “Every time Teagan and I fight, she always makes me say I’m sorry.”

“Well, I already said I was sorry,” Jaxon pointed out.

“And I have a standing apology for being dramatic,” Brad added.

“So rest assured, Shea. It’s all covered,” Dave finished.

“That’s a load of bollocks,” Shea swore. “Fine, I have a standing apology too. With everyone here.”

“No, you don’t either,” Teagan chimed in. “Not with me.”

“You are the absolute worst sister in the history of sisters.”

“False. I’m your only sister, and therefore, theabsolutebest sister you have.”

“Also the worst.”

Teagan shrugged and went back to the mobile. “What did we miss?”

Jaxon draped his arm across the back of her chair and reached for it. “Something we need Dave’s friend Sam to help us with.”

“Oh God, are you talking about that nest-crow who works in the dungeon?” Shea burst out.

Dave sighed, rolling his eyes. “Sam’s not a nest-crow. And it’s a basement.”

“Does he work at a desk?” Shea asked, smirking.

“Yes.”

“Does he ever leave the desk except to fill his coffee mug or to go home?”

“Shea, regardless, he can help us,” Dave insisted. “And you’re not on the force, so you can’t use that term.”

“I thought we weren’t going to involve outside help,” Teagan interjected.

“I didn’t know we’d even hacked into the mobile,” Brad said, looking around the table.

“Idid it,” Shea said with a smirk.

“You guessed a password,” Teagan corrected.

“Whatever, we’re in, aren’t we?”

“Okay, back up,” Jaxon said. “Start again, from the beginning. Teagan, you go first, tell everyone what happened at Barclay’s today, Britt, jump in where necessary. Fill everyone in and we’ll come up with a plan. ‘Kay?”
