“Oh, true…” Shea said with a shrug. “He’s no good at playing dumb. He’s got to go for broke. You really should tell everyone some time, though. Not that I’m notthrilledto be the second person you told or anything.”

Jaxon scooted closer to Teagan, leaning back against a pile of pillows and tugging her until she teetered over and snuggled into his side. “Don’t fall for it, Teags. She’s just trying to get into position to lord her knowledge. She can’t lord it here because she was the last to know so far.”

Shea squawked, sounding very much like Brad.

Jaxon snickered. “You Maddens, all your squawking.”

Shea’s phone buzzed just then, and she picked it up and grinned. “Frank’s here. You brought the rum, right?” she asked Teagan.

“Yeah, I brought it, it’s downstairs-”

“Nice, I’ll tell Frank.”

Shea texted him again as the doorbell rang. She took off like a shot out of the room. Which lookedverycomical, given that she had to crawl on all fours to get anywhere in the blanket fort.

Britt was next to follow, with Jaxon and Teagan remaining behind. Teagan cuddled into his side, hiking her thigh up over his hips.

“You don’t want to go downstairs?” he asked, leaning over to press a kiss to her forehead.

“Not just yet…” she whispered, turning so she could kiss his neck and throat, causing his hands to grip her just a bit more tightly.

“Better not start that,” he murmured, his voice a bit more gruff than it had been. “Likely to embarrass myself.”

“Doubtful,” she crooned, kissing him again before he shifted to sit up.

“Come on,” he said. “If Frank’s here, he’s making drinks.”

He crawled out of the room and Teagan followed him. Once they got downstairs, they slid past Dave and to their feet, Jaxon brushing off his jeans before reaching for her hand and dragging her through the living room.

“I was about to send a search party,” Dave teased.

Teagan rolled her eyes.

“Your search party would have gotten an eyeful,” Jaxon bounced right back.

“Hey. That’s my cousin,” Dave warned, even though his eyes were dancing with mirth.

“Who said I was the eyeful you’d have gotten?” Teagan asked.

Dave shrugged. “Nothing I’ve not seen before, to be honest.”

Teagan choked out a laugh as Jaxon pulled her along into the living room. “Exactly what do you boys get up to?” she asked.

“Oh the usual. Pillow fights in our underwear, practice kissing, and online shopping.”

Brad was hanging back from the kitchen. He turned around at online shopping. “I resent the notion that I do any of my shopping online.”

Teagan wrinkled her nose. “You know what, forget I asked.”

Chapter Thirty-Six

She thought about changing in her pajamas and spotted their bag shoved behind a chair. She fished it out and tapped Jaxon’s arm to let him know she was going to change. She did so quickly in the tiny half bath that was stuffed under the stairs. Seriously, how any of the guys used this room without giving themselves a concussion was an absolute mystery.

Once she’d returned, Jaxon took the bag to go change as well.

Brad shifted uncomfortably, bouncing on the balls of his feet. “You alright, Teags?”

“Hmm?” she asked, knitting her brow. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
