Something strange, this way blows.

ChapterFive

MASON

Iglanced at the huge sign stretching above my head, then slid my gaze to my brother, Leo.“Are you sure this is the place?”

We were standing in front of a gym that reeked of testosterone and human stench.

“That’s what George said.”Leo nodded his head at the door, then pushed on the glass panel.“So, let’s do this.”

He charged through the door and disappeared inside, and I stared after him.“Shit.”

This wasn’t where I wanted to be.Asking a witch for help was the last thing I wanted.

“Come on, dickhead,” Leo called through the rapidly closing door.

I rolled my eyes heavenward, and pushed inside after him.The stench hit me like a fucking wall.Piss and sweat, with a strong wave of ammonia cleaning products beneath it all.

Sometimes being a wolf shifter and having enhanced senses had a down side.

“Hey, how you doin’?”Leo asked the pretty girl behind the counter.

She smiled back, but seemed unmoved by my brother’s charm, which was impressive. Most of the women we met practically fell at his feet.

“I’m good, sir.Can I help you?”

“We’re looking for Tania,” Leo said.

Her features immediately shuttered.“Tania isn’t here at the moment. Can I give her a message?”

Leo went to speak, but I pressed forward, taking over the conversation.“If she’s around, could you tell her that we’re here?George sent us.We’re old friends of his.”

Something must have connected, because she nodded and said, “Let me go and speak to someone. Will you wait here?”

Leo said, “Thanks.”

I turned away and wandered around the foyer. There were rows and rows of supplements, and racks of clothes.

So human.

I shuddered. What was this super-powerful witch doing owning a mostly human gym?Made no sense at all.

“Are you sure this is where George told us to find her?”I whispered when Leo joined me at one of the clothing racks.

George had been a friend for a long time, ever since Leo and I had found the huge warlock receiving a hiding from a pack of four bear shifters. He’d been holding his own against them, an impressive feat considering their strength and numbers, but he wouldn’t have lasted much longer without taking some major damage.

We’d stepped in and turned the tide for him.Something I would have done for anyone in the same circumstances.

But George hadn’t simply walked away. He’d made us friends and drinking buddies. He was a decent man and we liked and respected him.

Leo nodded.“Yep.I’m sure.Oh, my… fucking…hell…” Leo began shaking like a leaf.

I grabbed his arm.“What’s happened? What’s wrong with you?”

Leo’s eyes were wide, his pupils dilated and had turned silver with his wolf shifter.

I shook him hard.“Stop it.”There were rules about exposing ourselves to humans. And there were way too many of them around here to risk shifting.
