“We stopped by here on our way.We thought you might wanna come with us.”

They were looking at me so expectantly, I couldn’t refuse.“Sure.I’d love to.”

“You don’t have to work?”Dad asked, ever the responsible one.

I shook my head.“They’ll be fine without me for a few hours.”I grabbed my keys and my cell, then followed my parents back down the staircase and into the gym.

Dad stood in the middle of the room, slowly turning around, surveying his handiwork.“Could use a new coat of paint.”

I glanced up at the ceiling, where his focus was.“It looks great still, Dad.”

He shook his head.“The flow isn’t quite right, either.I think I can optimize the work out space better if I move some things around for you.”

I laughed, happy for him to help.I would never have gotten this place without my parents’ support. They’d helped me every step of the way.“You can change anything you want, Dad.You know I trust you.”

And I did.Something I loved about my life was that I could trust my parents to do the right thing by me.A lot of my friends didn’t have that luxury. And then there were those like the wolf shifters who’d had their parents stolen from them.

I let Sherrie at the front desk know that I’d be out for a while, and we headed outside to my parents’ massive truck. With my father’s height and weight, he didn’t fit into normal vehicles.

Once we were in, and driving to the new place, I decided to ask Mom about the spell.“Hey, Mom.Can I get your opinion on something?”

“Of course.”

“A friend of mine, George—you’ll be meeting him, Dad.He’s a warlock, and one of the best power lifters at the gym.”

Dad nodded, and I continued.“Well, he has some friends, some wolfs shifters, who came to me for help with a spell.”

Mom’s intake of breath told me everything I needed to know about her feelings toward wolf shifters.

“You can’t help them,” Dad ground out.

I sighed.“I’ve already said I would. They saved George’s life a few years ago, and he owes them.”

“Butyoudon’t,” Mom reminded me.

At that point we arrived at the house.I glanced out the window to see an historic home that was falling into disrepair. But it had lovely lines, and a nice energy to it.“It’s really beautiful.”

Dad laughed.“Hardly.But it will be once I’m done with it.”

We got out of the car and Mom slid her hand around my arm.“We don’t help shifters, Tania.”

I wanted to roll my eyes, but managed to stop myself in time.“Mom.Their parents were cursed to be wolves, forever.By a witch. They can’t shift back. These two guys, brothers, have practically raised themselves. They just want their parents back. How can I not help them with something as fundamental as that?”

Mom’s eyebrows drew together, but she didn’t say anything.

Dad stomped off to the front door, out of ear shot.

Mom turned to me.“What’s your question?”

“I found a spell I think might help, but I know the best way of lifting the curse would be to find the witch who put it there in the first place.”

Mom nodded.“Yes, it would be.”

“So, do I do a location spell first? What do you suggest?”

Mom tilted her head to the side, thinking.“How long’s this curse been on the parents?”

I shrugged.Leo and Mason looked to be in their early to mid-thirties, and they said they’d been alone since they were teens.“Fifteen to twenty years, at a guess.”
