I swallowed hard, my anger shrinking just as quickly as it had flared.“I… we joined the gym… and I saw him push you…”

The man behind Tania chuckled.“You don’t know my daughter very well, mate, if you think she can’t deal with a bit of a shove when she was the one giving me shit.”

His accent caught me off guard. He sounded Australian, or at least, something like the Australians I’d heard in TV shows. Not that I was in a position to ask.I’d just shoved the guy.Hard, too.

Leo swaggered up, laughing.“I can see you’re making friends already, Mase.”He leaned in and held out his hand to Tania’s dad.“I’m Leo.”

“Jack.”The giant shook my brother’s hand.

I nodded at him.“I’m Mason.”

The giant reached out for me and I shook his hand also, heat flooding up my cheeks.“Sorry about that.”

Jack chuckled again, sounding like he was in good humor.“You’ve got balls, mate, I’ll give you that. What do you lift?”

I glanced over at the gym area.“Not sure. This is our first time in the gym.I don’t normally work out.Not like this, anyway.Work can be pretty physically demanding, but lift?No idea.”

Tania unexpectedly piped up.“Mason and Leo are builders, Dad.They renovate houses.”

Jack grunted.“Good to know.Come on.”He gestured for us to follow, and headed over to one of the areas that held bench-presses and weights.

I glanced at Tania, who lifted her eyebrows.“What are you waiting for?Go train with him.”

“But I came to see you.”

She rolled her eyes.“I own the place.I’m not going anywhere.Go train and I’ll see you both later.”

Tania walked into her office and shut the door.

I glanced at Leo who shrugged and said, “Why not?”And then he headed off to join Jack at the bench press.

I took a deep breath and let it out in a long sigh.We may have found our fated mate, but I had so many questions, and no answers.Once again.

I wasn’t sure how long my patience would last, but I gripped onto it with two hands and tried to hold on tight.

ChapterNine

TANIA

When Mason had come at my dad, pushing him against the window, all my instincts had fired into action.I’d been ready to take the wolf shifter’s head off and demand to know what the hell his problem was.

That was, until I realized that he was trying to defend me.His words still echoed in my ears.

What the hell are you doing pushing her like that?

No-one had ever jumped to my defense before.No-one except my parents, of course.I’d always been the tallest girl around, and the biggest in my class for years.I was the one who’d always defended others.I stood up to the bullies. Not the other way around.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about that.It gave me a warm feeling deep inside, but it also kind of unsettled me.I hid in my office for a while after my dad took the boys off to train, my heart pumping wildly and my stomach twisted with anxiety.Mom wasn’t here, and I needed her opinion on the guys. She’d already agreed to help me with them, but it would be good to confirm that now.

I grabbed my cell phone and sent a text to my all-knowing mother.

Her response was immediate.

On my way.

I chuckled, slid my phone back onto my desk and walked to the door.My breath caught in my throat, and I was embarrassed to admit that I was nervous to open the door and step back into my own gym.

Those two men out there made my whole body tremble with need.I had no idea why I was so intensely attracted to them, nor why they kept giving the impression that they cared about me, but it would all come out in the end.
