Page 41 of Fated to Wolves

I swiped the new card they’d sent me in the mail this week and walked into the gym.The place was packed and yet my gaze was immediately drawn to the dark-haired beauty in the corner of the room.

Tania was helping a blonde woman with her technique, talking to her and pointing out things on her body to change.

She stilled as I watched her, then turned toward me as though she’d felt my eyes on her.She froze with her mouth open.Staring at me, wide-eyed.

I could feel others turning to look as I walked over to her.But I didn’t care.I’d declare to the world that she was mine, if she’d let me.

“Hi,” I managed, though even that one word was difficult to articulate. My wolf was too close to the surface, wanting to claim his mate.

She nodded at me, then turned to the woman she was working with.“Jaydy, this is Mason. He’s one of the brothers I told you about.”

The blonde dropped the bar she was working with and stood up.She was taller than Tania, and just as curvy. But my wolf didn’t stir.He knew who his mate was.

“Oh hey!”She grinned broadly, making no secret that she was studying me intently.“Nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you too.”I said, though I could barely drag my gaze away from Tania.

The blonde continued as though she couldn’t see how much I wanted Tania to myself.“Tania was just telling me how many new clients have approached her this week, thanks to you.”

That got my attention.

I spun my gaze around to her.“Sorry… what clients?”

“Haven’t you been telling people in your pack about Tania? And what she did for you?”

“Ah… Yeah, I suppose I’ve told a few people.”I shot a look at Tania to gauge her reaction.Mom and Dad would have been explaining the whole story to anyone who’d come to visit.I’d offered to spread the word and get more clients for her, but I hadn’t actually thought about what that would mean.

More wolves around my mate.Jealousy reared up at the thought and I almost let out a growl.

Jaydy continued as though she couldn’t see my discomfort.“Well don’t get her too many big client jobs, or she’ll retire from here and we won’t have anyone to train us at the gym.”

Tania shoved at the woman who was obviously more friend than client, judging by their familiar manner with each other.“Don’t be stupid.I’d never close the gym, and I’m happy to help people who need it.My new magic is a gift, not something I should make money on.”

“Speaking of that new magic,” Jaydy said with a huge smile, “I’ve gotta get going.New job starts tomorrow.”

She nodded good-bye and sauntered off, her big ass swinging with strength and confidence.

“She’s beautiful, isn’t she?”Tania said suddenly, and I realized I was staring after the blonde.

I swung my gaze back to the woman who was my mate.“She’s okay, I suppose.I know a few guys in my pack who would really be into her, actually. If you want me to set up an introduction?”

I said it so that Tania would be reassured that my need was only for her.But even as I said the words, a couple of brothers Leo and I grew up with popped into my mind.Travis and Dean.Wouldn’t hurt to let them know there were some hot women training at the gym. That would get Tania some new memberships, too.

Tania’s mouth dropped open, her luscious lips just begging to be kissed.“Oh, I thought you might want to ask her out.”

I laughed. There was no other reaction that summed up my feelings so aptly.“Me?I’m taken, sorry.”

Her eyes widened for a moment, then her gaze dropped so fast I almost didn’t see the pain in her eyes. But I was quicker than she was in that regard.

I took a step toward her, closing the gap between us.“Tania,” I whispered calmly, lifting her chin so she was once again staring up at me.“I meant by you.If you’ll have me?”

She began shaking her head.“Please don’t say stuff like that. It’s not funny.”

“Like what?”I asked, dropping my voice to a whisper and hoping she’d be able to hear me around the thumping music in the gym.“That I want you. That I need you. That I’d marry you tomorrow if you’d say yes.”

This time her eyes filled with tears, and they didn’t look like the happy kind.

I grabbed her before she could run away and dropped my head to whisper into her ear.“Transport us somewhere safe.Now.”
