His eyes widened, then he did something weird. He leaned forward and inhaled.

I gaped at him.“Are you… sniffing me?”

The guy’s smile was almost sheepish now.“You’ve already been claimed. My apologies.I didn’t realize.”

Now it was my turn to be embarrassed.I turned away to hide my blush.Could he seriously smell the guys on me?“How about you come into my office and we can chat about the spell you want done.”

Luckily for everyone, they hadn’t joined the gym as payment for the spell. They were genuinely keen to work out and be part of the community. The spell they wanted was a simple one, and once again, was for a good cause.

“Stick around and train if you want,” I said to Matthius, the big guy, as we stepped out of my office after the meeting.“Otherwise, I’ll meet you and your sister tomorrow.”

Matthius’s sister had been born with a speech impediment that caused her no end of grief. Her big brother had come to ask me for help, and I was happy to give it.

Despite their gruff looks, these wolf shifters seemed to have hearts of gold.

“We can’t hang today, got stuff to do at home. But I’ll be back in the morning to train.”He stuck his hand out and I shook it.“Was great to meet you, Tania.”

“Likewise,” I said with a grin, and nodded at the two guys he’d brought with him.

They headed off and I watched them go with a new understanding of wolf shifters. Why the magical community shunned them, I didn’t know.

From the guys I’d met so far, my experience showed them to be loyal, family oriented, hardworking individuals. So, what was the witches’ problem with them? What was I missing?

I finished with some paperwork then went up to the apartment for a late lunch. My cell phone was filled with messages from Mason and Leo.Some friendly enough, others hot enough to make my insides curl.

I laughed to myself as I put together a few beef sandwiches and cut up a mango. How was it possible that men like that both wanted to date me?The answer was obvious, and unfortunately it came down to the fact they believed some sort of god-like-entity, Fate, had chosen me for them.

It was romantic, in a way, until the way they’d explained it made it sound almost like an arranged marriage. No choice.Just… here you go.This is your person.Go ahead and breed.

Though… fucking hell, the sex was as hot as Hades. So maybe the attraction between us wasn’t forced.

And I still hadn’t totally gotten my head around the fact there were two of them. What were my parents going to say?

Almost as though my thoughts had conjured them up, I heard my dad’s voice boom up the stairs and into my lounge.“Can I smell roast beef?”

A giggle escaped my lips.“Yeah.You can.Want a sandwich?”

“Four please!”Dad stomped his way up the spiral staircase.

I chuckled again as I magicked up another loaf of bread and got cutting into the roast meat.

“Hey Dad,” I called out as he stepped onto the landing and walked across to the kitchen to hug me.“Mom with you?”

“Nah.She had a catch up this afternoon with some school friends.Just me.”

“Here you go.”I pushed the plate at him across the kitchen counter.

I was certain my dad had eaten lunch already.Mom served him lunch at noon on the dot.The massive plate of sandwiches I’d put in front of him would simply be an afternoon snack for my father.

“So, what’s going on with you?”Dad asked, biting into the first one.

I shrugged.“You know.Work, work…”

“What about those two shifters? What are their names again?”

I swallowed hard, taking a sip of my water before answering, trying to sound casual.“You mean Mason and Leo.The two guys that were here the other day?”

“Yeah, the ones your mother and you helped out.She wants to go and visit their parents again, just so you know. She’s been giving them space, but you know what she’s like. She wants to get up in everyone’s business.”
