I pulled the throw rug off the couch and lay it over Tania’s form. She looked so beautiful lying there, sleeping.

I ran my fingertips over her face, memorizing every line and curve.“How could you think, for even a moment, that you aren’t perfect, exactly the way you are?”

I twisted around until I could lie on my belly too, turning my head to face her.I timed my breathing with hers and listened to the thump of my heart against my ribs.

We’d only just found our mate, and even though I had to share her with Leo, I couldn’t imagine any other life now than one with Tania.

And surely a woman that fate had decided needed two men to love her, would be strong enough to survive whatever this was.

“Please,” I whispered.“Don’t leave us.Not now.Not ever.”

Tania had given us our parents back. She’d opened up our future and made us think that anything was possible.

But nothing was possible if we didn’t have our mate.

ChapterTwenty-Three

LEO

Iraced down the stairs, out through the broken glass surrounding the front door and down the street.Tania’s parents had bought a monster mansion a few blocks away.I’d looked at it as a reno project for us multiple times, but had never been able to justify the budget we’d need to get it up to scratch to flip.

It was dark out and night air was cold on my cheeks as I crossed over a street and kept running.

When I turned the corner, the mansion was only a hundred feet away. There on the pavement outside the house was Sue, a shawl wrapped around her shoulders.

She rushed toward me.“I felt something. What’s happened to Tania?”

“She’s passed out.We don’t know how to wake her up.”

Sue turned to face the house and yelled.“Jack!”

She lifted her hand and there were car keys in her palm.

Jack came lumbering out of the house, pulling on a large leather jacket.“Where are we off to?”

“Tania’s apartment. She’s passed out and not waking up.”

Jack’s lips thinned but other than that, he didn’t show any signs of panic.I was ready to scream with frustration.

“Hold my hand,” Sue demanded.“I’ll portal us there.”

I nodded, grabbed her hand and closed my eyes.My heart was pounding with uncertainty.I’d never been a part of a spell, or magic before.I’d only ever seen one spell, and that had been done by Tania.

A wind rushed by my face then my skin tingled with warmth, like I wasn’t outside any longer.

“Leo, thank God.”

My eyes popped open and we were inside Tania’s apartment.I stared at Sue with awe.“That was impressive.”

She gave me a brief smile before rushing over to Tania.

“What happened?”Jack demanded.

“We don’t know,” Mason said, getting to his feet from his place on the floor.

He looked like he’d been lying down next to Tania.

Mason brushed off his hands.“We had a fight and she kicked us out.”
