Mom ran her hand over my cheek.“No, but you collapsed and hit the ground pretty hard, I’d say. You’re lucky you didn’t clip the end of the coffee table.Hang on, I’ll just…”

Mom used a healing spell, making a warm bliss move over my skin and I sighed as the headache and pain around my eye lifted.“Thanks, Mom.”

“Is she awake?”a familiar male voice asked quietly.

I pushed to shuffle up, finding myself on my bed.Leo stood in a slightly sheepish-looking manner in the doorway.

“Hi,” I managed, my heart beating harder and faster at seeing one of my beautiful, sweet wolves.

He stepped into the room, my dad’s large shadow looming behind him.

Dad glanced into the room, met my gaze, nodded, then disappeared again.

“We might leave you two alone for a moment,” Mom said, gesturing for someone to follow her.

I glanced to the side and saw my friend.“Jaydy!I knew someone else was here loaning Mom her magic.Thank you so much for all your help.”

Jaydy reached over and squeezed my hand.“Just happy to see you conscious again.I might head home to recharge, but I’ll see you tomorrow.Okay?”

I nodded and watched my friend leave.

Leo sat down on the bed, smiling at me with all the love I was used to seeing in his eyes, still there.

I gulped at the lump in my throat.“Harry was right, wasn’t he?”

Leo twisted his body so he could stare straight at me.“Harry? And… about what?”

My nose was tingling with heat which meant I had to sniff to stop the tears from gathering.“Um, I tried to free you and Mason from the hold I had on you. From fate making you like me, but I’m looking into your eyes and there’s still that thing I saw before.”

Leo shuffled closer and reached for my hand.“You mean you can see how much I adore you?”

I chuckled roughly.“Yeah.I…”

There was a clatter of footfalls on the steps then Mason burst into the room.“Is she awake… oh my God.”

He fell to his knees like my dad had walloped him on the Achilles.

His shoulders were shaking and he hung his head.

Then I realized Mason and Leo’s parents were here too. They had arrived just after Mason and stood in the doorway looking concerned.Leo stood up and walked over to them.

He looks back at me and smiled softly, flicked his gaze to Mason on the ground, then shut the door to give us some space.

I stared down at my beautiful, strong, rough wolf. The last one I’d ever expected to fall apart. He was the oldest brother, the less emotional of the two.Or so I’d thought.

I slid off the bed and crawled over to where Mason was still shaking.“Hey… everything’s okay.”

He was shaking his head and I had to hold him.I was going to cry if I didn’t.I slid my arms around his shoulders and he came toward me, burying his head in the crook of my neck and holding me tightly against his huge chest.

I closed my eyes and felt a wave of love that I’d never expected to feel in my lifetime. The wave started from Mason, swelling up and crashing over me.My soul and heart met his love, and pushed my own back, creating a larger, stronger feeling.

“I’m okay,” I said again, and Mason lifted his head, his eyes red with tears.

“You almost left us.”

How could I have ever thought that this man was being forced to care for me?The love I saw in his eyes was undeniable.

I hadn’t meant to leave them, but in a way, he was right.I whispered, “I’m so sorry.”Then I reached out to kiss him.
